whenever i use the snip and sketch it just tabs me out of ets2 and goes onto google but doesnt do it on anything else, i have tried taking a screenshot on a timer and it still doesnt work

That is very likely due to some kind of connection of that stuff on your PC.

Also, you could just use F12 or assign a key in the game to take a screenshot. There is no need to use the snipping tool at all.

im trying to take a picture of my odometer, when i use f12 the entire screen is screenshotted and so the odometer becomes low quality and unreadable when i paste it anywhere

One maybe possible option, use mouse to look around and mousewheel press to zoom, look at odometer using the mouse, press mousewheel, with mousewheel pressed, press F12
Maybe it's an option to change fov as well.

You can also just assign a key to zoom in when you are in the cab.

If your pictures gets low quality if you cut it out from a fullscreen screenshot.....then that is not because of the fullscreen shot, and more of how you extract that part & resave it.

Somewhere in the config files (I honestly don't know which line) you can set screenshot quality, which will/can give you 2 screenshots, one low and one "hq" quality.

Try playing in Windowed Mode.

A great programs which is a game changer.. Hehe.. Is borderless gaming, makes any game run in Windows borderless then at least snipping tool should work as intended, just turn off fullscreen and add the game to the program to make it fullscreen, no issues with it for years and works perfectly.
