Adaptive Cruise Control in June 2024, is it bugged?
So I updated to the latest version of ETS2 and I'm in the early stages of a new playthrough.
The standard Cruise Control works as expected, but I can't seem to get the ACC to work. Does anyone know how to get ACC working? Is it dependant on being assigned to the default key binding or not? Do I have to activate a certain type of braking or lane control before it will function?

There are hundreds of Steam comments on ACC not working, but none are recent. Should I just give up and settle for the standard Cruise Control, or is there some way I can get it to work?

Happy Hunting :steamsunny:

It is working and it is adapting on the speed of the traffic ahead of you. If it is driving slower than ACC will slow you down to match their speed.

Adaptive cruise control is under game play options. You can disable it, or choose the following distance to the car in front of you.

Sorry if I didn't make my post very clear. I press the key which ACC is assigned to, but nothing happens. There is no icon in the dashboard, and my truck remains in manual control. I've tried assigning it to different key bindings but that hasn't helped. I try to activate it when I'm on a clear stretch of road with no traffic around, but it just refuses to work. My normal cruise control works just fine. but ACC doesn't. I'm confused...

I had an issue with ACC unless it's been fixed.
Tbh I don't use it as I have a button assigned to the trailer brake and use that to slow down then tap resume CC button to keep the apply either button as neede using my thumb.
Every so often it will slam brakes on and then vents all the air from brakes so I have to wait to refill tanks.
Turn it off and go back to CC it behaves perfectly.
Don't know if it still applies brakes for oncoming traffic in narrow roads and tight bends.
Used to be a nightmare going over Alps and was more trouble than its worth IMO.
I think you have to assign in the settings section instead just CC
ACC will not activate until you near a vehicle going slower than you then it will apply brake so in open road and little/no traffic you won't see any difference.

You activate it in the gameplay settings. No need for any kind of keybind for it.

Yes, the game options are set as you say, but ACC still refuses to activate. I think I'm gonna have Steam validate my game files, just in case there's something basic that's not right.

I have ACC assigned to Left Alt and CC assigned to the Spacebar. When I hit Spacebar the cruise control activates and maintains the speed. There is an in-dash icon to show the speed chosen. When I hit Left Alt nothing happens. nada. zip.

There is no icon for ACC in the trucks. At least not in the trucks I use.

Acc is always active when you set a cc speed. (if you activated it in the options, at least that was the case months ago when I used it)

The to button you can asign for Acc may be to turn it off/on when cc is set. (not sure about that, as I never needed it in the short time period I had Acc active)

The ACC works in my game, have it activated on 2 trucks - have it set on 60 mph abd it works pefectly. Then i verify games nearly everytime i feel to play.

Adaptive Cruise Control works by keeping your truck at the speed you set and then keep you at that speed unless you close in on another vehicle. Then it will adapt to keep you a set distance behind that vehicle while maintaining a speed as close to your setting as possible. Once there is no other vehicle detected in front of you, the cruise control will resume the speed you set. The only issue I had with it in game was in ATS deciding there was something in front of me and slowing down out of nowhere.

I'd like to finish off this thread, as I seem to have ACC working now. After I validated my files it started working as designed. Weird thing is, the validation process found no errors. I went through the various settings to make sure they were correctly set (they were), by removing them and resetting them. Seems ok now, but I'm not sure why ACC wasn't working before.

Thanks for all your suggestions :parksmiley:

I have 22 buttons on my wheel and along with Simdashboard on an old 8" tablet i have all the keys/controls I need without using the k/b. The only time I use k/b is if I need to minimise to desktop.
Not using k/b maintains immersion for me.
As far ACC goes it's working perfectly, its only if I have EB activated that I get random application of brakes and lose all the air from braking system.
