On a 16:9 Curved you will see (if it is the same resolution etc.) the same image as on a 16:9 flat.
If you want more visible space to the sides look for a Ultrawide Monitor (21:9 or greater).
It took quite some amount of money yes but it is worth it for me.
I also have a TrackIR 5 since before and its awesome. It was great with my old screens now its great * great... (* multiply)
It depends on what you are after. If it is just more to see - broader sight - then I would go for Underscore_101_3s suggestion to go for an eye/headtracker solution.
Edit: You do get broader sight with a screen like mine but it is still going to be static. However, depending of the field of view you are using you could get booth side mirrors in the screen, but that would require a quite high FOV (IIRC)
Shan't go on about tec specs, picture etc as there are plenty of reviews out there but it's BLOOMING brilliant!!!!!
As i'm only sitting 18 inches away from it, its plenty big enough for me. Can see edge to edge w/o turning head or eyes.
Curved vs flat. I dont have flat eyeballs and can't get over how much better the curved screen is against the 32" flat screen I had. Even when doing Office stuff. As a spectacles wearer doesn't seem to make my eyes ache so have to remember to look out over the road.
Did think about going bigger but as I say with the distance I'm at this is plenty big enough.
Still, its all down to personal budget and preference plus room on desk top if that's all you have.
Must admit, it's really comfy sitting in my rig to do ornery pooter stuff instead of sitting at desktop.
What you might really want, is a multi display setup.
If I use an ultra wide monitor would the experiance be enhanced with a head tracker
If you use a Tracker like track Ir, tobii or one of the open source Webcam ones, it will Enhance your gaming, regardless of the monitor you use. (opinions might differ)
Imho yes.
Last year I looked at monitors to replace a 27" 1920/1080 for playing ETS2/ATS, already had a head/eye tracker (Tobii 4c).
When you look at pricing, what (ultra) wide (curved) screens improve gaming wise in width is what they lose in height, so going wide was out of the question for me because I like seeing dials and the steering wheel when I play the game without having to move my head down and up and also some things that are above the windscreen.
atst they bought some curved 43" monitors (3840 x 2160) where I worked and I had a look at them at work and online shops, I didn't see the advantage, and again the curved ones were quite a bit more expensive compared to similar flat models from the same brands.
So I ended up getting a flat 43", and with the Tobii I think it's a great experience, I honestly don't see the point in curved and/or (ultra) wide screens for this game, certainly not for the premium price, with the 43" I feel I have with and height, not curved of course, but I just don't see the point of curved monitors compared to flat in the same aspect ratio.
That's what I have MAG272CQR 1500 curved. Seems ok for gaming.
For me a 43" Monitor would be too big considering the distance (and space).
Have running a 32" Odyssey Neo g8 since the weekend (went down to a price in a Shop i was willing to pay) and had the G5 running before and never saw a disadvantage in the curve.
This article (even if it is from a manufacturer) might explain some advantages between flat & curved
