Steering Wheel Mid Budget
Hello,

I recently started playing ETS 2 as a stress relief after work or just to enjoy the scenery.
I thought of buying a steering wheel, since playing with the keyboard and mouse feels a little clunky and the movements are janky.

Now I have bought out of impuls a Hori RWA because I thought it comes together with a wheel stand. This was not the case.
Unfortunately I only discovered later that the wheel only supports 270 degree and not 900 degree steering.
No I am in a little bit of a pickle, since I think I might have bought a wrong tool for the job and if I should look for a Logitech G29 which most people say is one of the best "mid budget" wheels for ETS 2.

I wonder if someone is using a Hori RWA and could share his/her experience with it. I do not intend to play the game with a gearshift, I use the automatic gear given by the game.

G29, or G923 is what I would recommend, simply cause those are pretty much the same in the end.

But what makes those decent, is good support for other games too, and it also has FFB (Force Feedback), which helps immensely for having a feel of the front steering tires.

I use the G923 (Playstation version on pc) both on this game, and others, like Assetto Corsa, and on such racing games, FFB is simply vital. And with drifting, 900 degrees comes in real handy.
The gear-shifter addon for the Logitech's are not needed at all, unless you have plans later on trying out fully manual cars on racing sims, or other racing games.

Apparently the Hori RWA does not have FFB, and personally that one would be frankly useless for me, but again, that's a personal preference

My point is, the Logitech's are quite decent in the long run.

Thank you for your reply. My issue is, I only play ETS2. I have absolutely no desire to play any other racing game, so I thought paying 150€+ for a steering wheel might be a little much.
But yes, the FFB is a really nice touch, since I have no experience in driving a truck, so crossing the rumble strips with it would add even more realism

The G29/G923 are solid options for ATS/ETS2. You may also try looking for an old Logitech Driving Force GT (DFGT). Depending on your used market it could be a really good cheap option with 900 degrees of rotation (though the included pedals suck).

The Thrustmaster T150/TMX is also worth looking for and has slightly better FFB than the G29.

Welp, curse my impulsive buying habit. I think I'll wait till I find a rather cheap G29 on ebay and play with the Hori for now. Maybe I'll get lucky.

I will grant you that €150+ may at first seem like a lot of money for a steering wheel and pedal set.
But remember that if you are satisfied with your purchase of a good quality steering wheel, it will be an investment that can provide many hours of entertainment

In the long run, I have never regretted my purchase of a Logitech G920, which until now has worked without problems for about 5 maybe 6 years (or more than 8000 good game hours in ETS2)

The fact that it just happened to be a G920 was solely due to the fact that it was the only steering wheel the shop had at home, and it was even on offer at a slightly lower price because it had been used for an exhibition and that the packaging was a bit broken.
- Otherwise, if the store had other quality steering wheels from Logitech or Trustmaster, it might as well have one of the ones I had bought.

My current wheel setup (with an extra stand...as i discovered putting the wheel on the table is not so good if the ffb is stronger then a logitech g92x) has cost me around 980€ (wheel, base etc. around 850€) .......and i mainly play ets2 & ats with it at the moment (have not looked to much in some racing games yet)

Yeah, a Wheel Stand is also on my wishlist. Easier to store away the whole contraption. Not that expensive though^^

If you check on Amazon .eu I have just seen a G29 from Amazon Warehouse for 187,99€ so getting close to your target price!

I bought Thrustmaster T150 RS FF in 2017 for 159€, the T300 was too much for my casual driving. What can i say, it still works fine, the force feedback got annoying really fast, so i keep it on minimum.

G29 is a must have, many buttons, very useful, and in the meantime 2.500 hours without problems... bought a second one already for another pc..... Thrustmaster works too it seems. Amazon often offers the best price (watch out for selling + delivery by amazon).
