WHY is this outdated game so popular...?

I bought this not-at-all-realistic game to practice before my driving exam, but since the first moments it was apparent that it has nothing to do with reality (thus- "simulation" category).
WHY are there SO MANY deluded fans who think this has ANYTHING to do with the real life trucks? If there is some SPECIFIC combination of mods that make it (supposedly) realistic, then the base game still doesn't deserve ANY of the praise it gets.

P.S. Just to state the obvious- my current job is TRUCK DRIVER (In Europe).

Because it's not outdated.

Old doesn't mean it never gets updated, it gets updated several times a year and new dlc are added regularly.

Also, nobody here thinks this game represents the actual trucking job, many are/were truckers, incl. myself, and nowadays I play the game to relax, so calling people deluded just because they play a game is just dumb.

This game is not outdated they update at least 3-4 times a year if not more ......if it is so outdated how come so many people play it and some of it is like real life trucking so i dont know what you are talking

By "outdated" I meant the graphics and the rudimentary physics engine.
If you were a trucker and now are playing this game, it does IN NO WAY mean that it is a "truck simulator"... Which part of this 90's game would you call a "simulation" in 2023...? ARE YOU SERIOUS right now..............................

I don't know what games back in the 90's you were playing that have better graphics and physics, but it certainly isn't any driving games from that era.

But if you don't like this game, no one is forcing you to play it anymore. Just hide it and forget about it. I don't know of any other game currently on the market that has updates as consistent with SCS for a game originally released in October of 2012 with a game engine they are constantly tweaking and updating with newer graphics APIs and stuff.

But hey, you do you.

Welll, i criticise this game a lot lately brcaise I think it could be waaaaay more better in every way, but if you have a wheel, pedals and shifter, and if you set up your settings in game correctly (uneven roas surfaces, random road events, air brake simulation etc etc) this game can be pretty realistic TBO.
