Cancelling a WOT contract, what does it do?
So last night I took on a WOT contract not realizing that it uses real time instead of in game time. When I found out about this I needed to cancel the contract as the delivery was going to take about 2 hours real time to complete and I wanted to go to bed. If I didn't cancel, by the time I would have been able to resume the contract the time would have expired.

By cancelling, the game says at the moment no penalties apply but it does keep a record that you cancelled a contract. Does this affect my account in the future in any way or do I just have to live with a cancelled contract on my record?

Would I have been better off letting the contract expire instead of cancelling it?

For the time being it doesn't affect your account in any way aside from the fact it will be recorded in your WoT profile statistics. It wouldn't probably make any difference whether you cancelled the job or let it expire.

As for the nature of WoT contracts using real time instead of the accelerated game time, this only affect how much time you have to pick up the contract and how much time you have for completing the delivery. However once you start the WoT delivery, time goes the same way in the game as with any other standard delivery, so it would probably take you much less time to complete it. Unless it was a delivery from one side of Europe to the other, although even that would probably take you no more than 1 real hour at most.

Thanks for the info. As I said I had no idea that there was a real time countdown for the WoT deliveries. In the future I'll make sure not to take any contracts just before finishing playing for the day.

So just to clarify, when you have started the delivery the real time countdown and the in game time continue independently of each other?

Well, there's a converter between in game time and real time. My observations show that 1 minute in game = 3 real seconds. However it's been mentioned somewhere that the converter changes depending on where you are (i.e. in town or outside town) and whether you're moving or parked.

If you save the game and go away from the the computer the timer still counts down, after a 24hr break you might still have time, ive left a contract for a few days because of work and general life then picked up the contract only to find im 61hrs late so best to complete in one run or take only small contracts.

I've seen myself that the difference between real time and game time is affected by whether you are stationary or moving. While trying to grow my empire I sat parked for a while waiting for employees to make me money and the game time moved much slower.

That was a while ago though, not sure if they changed it.

Good advice, next time I make the trek across Europe on a WoT contract I'll make sure it's not before a two day bender :)

I don't think it changed. However someone once posted a trick that in order to quickly gather a large amount of money without you actually driving yourself, you just quicktravel between your garages (if you have more than one that is). Quicktravel speeds up passing game time a lot so within a couple of real seconds you can advance game time by days and if you keep doing it for a longer period of time you can advance game time by weeks, etc. thus quickly collecting profits earned by your drivers at the same time. This sounds more efficient than just sitting in your truck doing nothing :)

The time doesn't vary with you being in motion. It varies by where in the world you happen to be. While within a city/town and at service stations it moves at about 3:1. On b-roads it goes about 9:1. And on the motorways it goes about 15:1, sometimes faster.
