Honestly, buying a game where you will spend "hours" behind a WHEEL then complain cos you use a controller.

This game is about driving, if you want to spice up your gameplay i can recommend you TruckersMP, its a multiplayer mod where you surely wont go bored. (especially in calais.)

I also play with a controller and have zero issue playing for long.

There are youtube videos with full relaxing trips if you want to just watch. Sim and IRL.

This sounds so weird to me.

That said, I visit a friend who can't get enough of Forza. `Forza, Forza, Forza!` (an arcade car racer). He nearly all the time just sits there and lets the AI drive his car around in circles by itself for hours.

Makes no sense to me at all, but whatever, as some say.

When I get bored with ETS 2, I simply leave the game alone for a while. When I go on, it's fun again.

So you buy a driving game, but don't want to do the driving? What next, buy FIFA and then just simulate the games? Buy a KFC and then let the staff eat it?
