Honking and beacon etiquette

Here in Finland it seems like bus and truck drivers never really use their horns, unless someone is screwing around on the road, but when abroad I often see especially bus drivers use the horn to say "hi".

Having all these horn and light options on my in-game trucks I was wondering if real-life truckers or ETS2 multiplayer truckers have any habits / conventions regarding these.

In Sweden you are only alowed to use the horn to announce your arrival at the crashsite.. only a little exaggerated ;)
In the MP mod allmost every player you meet will use the horn, gets old after a while ;)

Also, in Germany at least it's quite common to signal a truck that has just passed you that he passed your truck completely by flashing the headlights so that he can merge... I was missing that too :)

Default key for horn is H. You can change and see all the key bindings in options.

I always honk when I meet other players in multiplayer ... seems to be a habit from watching my all time favourite series Ice Road Truckers :D
At other times I also flash my head lights to greet other truckers.
