So does the new MAN have two gas tanks?
I don't really understand how it works. The display has a white gas icon and a blue gas icon. The white one drains super fast and the blue one gradually. Why does it work like this?

What white do you mean?
I only saw at the bottom the usual ones.

Bottom left your fuel indicator
Bottom right the one for adblue

Never heard of adblue before, do any of the other trucks use it? All I know is the white gauge was full and within one trip it was already on empty, whereas on my other MAN I can go like 1000 km on a tank easily. It depleted ridiculously fast and even on empty, or at least as red as it seemed to get, I kept going only using the blue gauge so I figured it was a back-up gas tank?

Also when I re-filled on gas both white and blue filled to max.

All trucks use adblue though it is also known as DEF (diesel exhaust fluid):

Just to be sure...you arte talking about those two lines?

If so...Adblue never can run out, unless some mod is in use which alters tank sizes.

if you meant something else.....feel free to point to it a bit more specific...

Yeah those two bars. I don't have any mods, but the blue one depleted a little and re-filled when I got gas. That's why I thought it was the real gas tank because the white one ran out in just a couple minutes. Like I'm driving through Italy and i just filled up in Napoli and by the time I got to Firenze it's almost 3/4 empty. I can drive halfway across the map on one tank of gas in my other MAN.

Yeah, the blue is Adblue, which never runs out in ETS2.
Even with real life Diesel carrs and trucks, you last several tens of thousands of kilometers with one tank of Adblue.
I have driven a VW Caddy Max which needed a refill after about 50k km.

No, Adblue is refilled automatically if you refill your fuel.
if scs would simulate the refill of both a lot of players probably would get annoyed by it.

And if your fuel runs out fast....that should not be, as the approximate reach with a full fueltank is around 2200km (according to my dashboard.....fueltank size might depend on chassis used) and as you can see, i drove 800km with the truck and only used up around a bit more then a quarter of fuel.

This is my dashboard after getting to Firenze. Filled it to max in Napoli and at Firenze it was over 3/4 depleted. Filled it again in Livorno and it's over 1/4 used up by the time I got to Genova. I think it said it used 182 L or so. I played with the dash options and it says I have 722 km left of gas left. 6x4 chassis, it's the only one so I don't see any other gas tank sizes.

I'm not using the gas efficiency level up boosts. But still, like I said, my old MAN went across many countries on one tank.

Do you have the chassi with a 400 liter gas tank? I see you have a 6x4 I just dont remember if thats the one with a small tank.
kaki_gamet May 18, 2023 @ 2:02am
Yes, is that. Only 4x2 has two larger tanks (850 or 1160 l). Others are 400 l (taglift, 6x4) or 450 l (both midlift) only -.- But if willing to use the 8x4 then, it has 960 l ^^'

Ok I went back to double check and sure enough this new truck is 400 L capacity and my other MAN is 1160 L. It's weird the smaller chassis holds more gas. Since you can't chose a tank size on any of these trucks, at least that I can see, I thought they were all the same. The dashboard said on a full tank with the new TGX I can get 812 km out of it. Thanks for clearing it up everyone.

It's like this on most trucks, 4x2 leaves more room for gastanks I am guessing.

That Caddy must have been pre-2015 and caused some severe trouble for VW management :steammocking: Consumption is 1 to 1.5 litres per 1,000 km for a car. So the 15 litre tank of a Caddy will last an average of about 12,000 km.
Trucks due to their much different engine working conditions compared to a car (much more high throttle due to slower acceleration and much more drag) take about 5% of their Diesel consumption, i.e. with about 30 litres per 100 km they need these 1.5 litres per 100 km instead. So a truck with 90 litres (Mercedes Actros) will make it 6,000 km between two refills. Which quite well covers the rule of thumb my friend driving the real thing (MAN TGX, had also Mercedes Actros and Volvo FH at earlier employers) to fill up Adblue with every second Diesel fuel stop - and that in ETS2 and ATS Adblue will usually go down to about half full before you have to fill up Diesel again.
