About the new MAN Mirrors Sensor
So if you buy the new MAN TGX, there will be several mirrors options. But essentially, there are 3 options, conventional/traditional mirrors, conventional mirrors + sensor, and camera mirrors.

My question is, when using conventional mirrors + sensors, does the sensors actually work? You can see the sensors being added behind the front wheel on the body panel. But I tried driving close to object like street light, gas station, etc. it doesn't give any warning. I tried reversing and no sound or visual sensor either. Is it just cosmetic or is there a way to make it functional?

Alright, I'll try with cars and trailer and see if they work or not. If they will, then I guess it only detects vehicle object and not map object. Thank you!

Ah yes it worked! Apparently the light indicator is on both side of pillar A and they lit up with amber/orange color. However in my testing, it seems like the right sensor (my truck is LHD) is more sensitive than the left one?

I tested it on parked truck and cars on some harbor. I tried getting close on my left side and it never lit up. But when I tried getting close with the right side, it lit up! The sensor can actually detect maps object too like road barrier and stuff. But in my testing, the left side almost fail every time, while the right side actually warns you.

Thank you guys for the answer (and the question!): I could not understand what was happening with these so called 'sensors' on the new MAN TGX until I stumbled in this post.
Cheers!
i noticed they glowed orange when passing other trucks. took a while to notice the orange light on the a pillar. perhaps they should give info boxes when adding new items to your truck at service station. anyway was a help even though i figured it out myself over time lol

A brief description of each upgrade makes sense!

I prefer the orange light instead of sound myself.

I know this thread is quite old, but I'm actually the opposite. Sound sensor imo warns you almost instantly, while the light sensor needs you to actually look at it. In real life, I guess it's noticeable since we have peripheral vision. But in-game, my FOV is limited. So there's really no use for the passenger-side sensor if I need to look at it, might as well look at the mirror. But yeah, I guess each to their own. Cheers!

I agree completely. It's kinda useless, if not excessively expensive and a waste of money, considering the effort put into this thing, seen with the eyes of SCS itself, I mean. They have spent time and resources (thus money) to create kinda redundant system, part of which is technically totally not useful, at least for those using a simple single (and likely also flat) screen and a 'regular' FOV. Once you made the effort to change view and move it to the right side, there is no need to check the sensor light (apart from hearing the buzzer inside the whole cabin whatever the view) instead of actually looking at the mirror, since it's anyway in your line of sight, even without the need to even move your eyes, possibly...
And all of this perhaps in moments where you, as a driver (although virtual), find yourself in situations where rapid efficient timing could very much be of the essence.
