Myself and two friends want to play together. Can we all play for the same company for example?
Convoy mode jobs can be selected by everyone in the session, as soon as someone picks the job up it becomes visible in the pause menu for everyone to be able to take the same job. TMP does not have this option.
You dont work for the same company, you still earn on your own profile like you do in single player. but doing the same jobs in convoy mode kinda gives that feel, also allows you all to drive around together
Thanks for the reply - from what you're saying it sounds like you'd recommend Convoy Mode over the TMP, would that be an accurate assessment?
The three of us who want to play together, don't need to be in the same company, but more about running the same jobs together, while we chat over our Mumbles server.
I assume also from Convoy Mode, you mean the mode selectable in the game itself, rather than a different mod, right?
By "simply the online mode" I assume you mean the built-in Convoys. Convoy is a peer-to-peer service, i.e. You or one of your friends is hosting the server. The other connects to it. Max 8 players at the same time in the the same server.
The biggest 3rd-party multiplayer servers are hosted by TruckersMP. You download client software from their web site and install it on your computer. There might be thousands of players connected at the same time. Some are nice and serious, some are just trolling and destroying for other players.
I think the biggest difference is that with Convoy you can play with friends you know and with TruckersMP you play with thousands of strangers.
Ok, thanks for the clarification. The three of us are long time friends, and I think we all have a fairly low tolerance for asshats just out to ruin everyone else's experience, so I suspect at this point we'll try the Convoy Mode.
I have set up the TruckersMP account and will get the mod to check it out, but it sounds like convoy mode will be the better fit for the three of us.
Personally, I use TMP at times when I want to go somewhere away from the main area (calais is a no go on tmp, chaos at every lamp post )
I use convoy when myself and my friends decide to challenge each other to different scenarios. we come up with different ideas each time we play, such as taking jobs in one country only, and seeing how long it takes to find each other during driving. or we select the same job as each other and ride bumper to bumper almost and aim for jobs that that are over 1400 miles in distance
I do indeed mean the mode in the game itself, no need for a multiplayer mode .
Thanks again for the reply Mark.
Glad I made this thread, you and Magnus have cleared up a lot of the confusion I had over multiplayer in Truck Simulator. Thanks again. :-)
