gaming chairs
Hello,

My desk chair is about to die so I'm in the market for a new desk chair.
Of course I can just get the same one from Ikea, it's fine, cheap and lasted
about 5 years, nothing wrong with that, it's actually a good deal :-)

But nowadays there are some nicer looking (not necessarily better) gaming chairs
with useless, but nice looking led lights and was thinking of maybe getting
one of those, just for the bling basically.
I'm seeing some that are seemingly too cheap (around 150 euro, my Ikea chair is 119 Euro) to be of good
quality, of brands I have never heard of, or brands that are in my mind usually
not too good quality, like Trust.

So figured maybe I could ask the #BestCommuntyEver, since this and ATS are just
about the only games I play often.

The actual question of this story: What is a good brand for gaming chairs?

Just to clarify, not looking for some over the top set up, just a chair is what
I'm looking for, budget is anywhere between 0 and 500 euro.

Thank you for reading :-)

Rob

Thanks for your replies, I'm aware that gaming chairs aren't better, and I've seen the Ikea ones, but they don't have them with LED lights, which is why I came asking here :-)

Your 2nd reply looks promising though, may look into those though i'm not seeing LED ones.

LED is just one more thing that can break fast so dont go for that

Get yourself a comfortable chair and buy some LED light strips (e.g. Amazon or a local store that has it). Glue it on to the chair and connect to power.
Saves money and you can have the LED as you want them to be.

Yeah, thought of that, but it's just not the same :-)

Because it is better. ;)
Chairs with build in LEDs can (generally) not be repaired when the LED strip breaks (or repairing it is as expensive as buying a new chair). With the glued on LED strip you can simply replace the LED strip when it breaks thus having less waste and your chair lasting as long as the chair would without the LEDs.
There are even RGB LED strips you can buy if that is more what you want.

Have not used the LED light but would not want to change back from my Backforce One Plus gaming chair to an office chair. They are much better designed for long sitting times than normal office chairs.

I don't have one but my adult son and his mates all swear by SecretLab chairs. No LED lights (although they will sell you some as an add-on) just really, really comfortable for long gaming sessions, apparently. When my current chair (bought from Office World, I think) dies then I may invest in a Secret Lab one to see what they're all raving about.

I made a mistake and bought gaming chair, because my 15 year old office chair without headrest was not a nice thing to see in my gaming room, now I have gaming chair that fits the look and sore back. The damn thing is too uncomfortable, armrest are bad, seat got hard after few months. Only thing I like about it is the look, and ability to lean back when playing games with controller. I'd suggest get a good office chair with max comfort, pay attention to armrests, mine's are a bit too short comparing to old chair, and my shoulders are suffering when I do couple of hours of gaming. Don't be fooled by the looks, it's just the thing that sells these chairs, racing style, LED's, writings on leather, that's all for show. Don't be like me (and many others I believe) and fall for it. The most important thing about you gaming setup should be chair that gives comfort to your butt, support for your neck, back and adequate armrests that support shoulders. I'd recommend cloth over leather because of durability and If you don't AC your room, your crack will get sweaty a lot. The wheel "star" that fits your chair wheels should be made out of metal, plastic can break fast. I'd recommend invest 500+ euros/dollars in to good char that give comfort. Get LED lights and set up behind monitor, desk, shelves etc if you want cozy atmosphere. LED chairs are there just to be sold. I was madly in love with my new chair until I bought it and I sat on it for first few days, I was comforting my self that I'll get used to it, but It's just getting worse. I'm getting new office chair in couple of months with all ergonomic support and most important - comfort.

Thanks for the replies everyone, will take some of them into consideration.
The chairs in the link from MagicIso (hiddenpost) and the suggestion from The Pitts seem like proper quality.

Have some time to make the final decision, and maybe i'll get back to another thought i had a while ago and that is to get an actual car seat, but not sure if I want to do all the DYI work to make it into a feasible chair :-)
What I do know is that I can get into the car with a backache and out of it without a backache :-)

I'm going to say, as someone who owns one, most gaming chairs literally come from the same factory, and they're ungodly uncomfortable! Chances are if you sat in one, you likely sat in them all. Doesn't help they're pretty much made for someone in the form factor of an average 12 year old. Your back hurts a little after a long session too.

Gamers Nexus had a breakdown on the best chair. Recall it was some reasonably priced office chair. Their video may be worth a watch.

Save yourself the money, don't fall for thr gimmicks like pillows and massagers.
