[Linux] Display and Mouse corrupted
Hello guys,

I wanted to pick up the game again, but my display and my mouse isn't working properly. Firstly, my display is showing only the left side of the game, as if it tries to display it on two monitors. I remember tinkering with the game once to get it to do exactly that, but I dont remember if it was on this install or on the windows partition. I cannot find any evidence on that on the Nvidia control panel, so it must be a Problem with some .ini-Files of the game, if i remember correctly. I just can't remember where... Is there a way to get the game back to default values? Reinstalling didn't work.

Secondly, my cursor is always moving to the upper left corner. I got a messsage about using a device to navigate the menu, but could only read part of it, due to the display problem. On the visible side of the display was the "cursor"-Button, so I just assumed it would change it to mouse-controll, but it didn't. How can I fix that?

Some additional Info:
Distro: Garuda Linux with newest Linux-Zen-Kernel
Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce 1060 GTX with latest proprietary driver
As of now, no Wheel attached, but will add Thrustmaster T300RS GT-Edition later on.

Tried for several hours, so I probably forgot some necessary infos, but I'll provide as needed.

Thanks in advance for you help!
Greetings
Avataxi

I'm not on Linux and neither with a multimon configuration so take what I will write with a bit of salt ^^' There is a home directory that keep all local settings, on Windows it is into Documents/Euro Truck Simulator 2 so you should find something similar. In there there is a config.cfg file that maybe it is the one you need to edit. Inside it I found these variables (that I never touched) so you may compare them with yours and change them accordingly :
uset r_multimon_exterior_in_aux "0" uset r_multimon_interior_in_main "1" uset r_multimon_rotation_aux "0" uset r_multimon_rotation_right "0" uset r_multimon_rotation_left "0" uset r_multimon_rotation_center "0" uset r_multimon_vert_offset_right "0" uset r_multimon_vert_offset_left "0" uset r_multimon_border_fov_right "0" uset r_multimon_border_fov_left "0" uset r_multimon_fov_vertical "0" uset r_multimon_fov_horizontal "50" uset r_multimon_mode "0"
About your mouse there is another file, controls.sii that is located into ETS2/profiles/<hexcode>/ folder and in there there are all your keybinds. Simplest option would be to rename it and have game to create a new one, but you will lose all your customized keybinds. Other way would be to search for anything that is mouse related until find something odd; I would start from the top anyway, with config_lines[1]: "device mouse `fusion.mouse`" or something similar (what I have and never changed it). To compare new file with old version is an option it too. In the meanwhile someone with more experience on the field may answer you better ^^'

Thanks for the answer! I found the config.cfg file, but there isn't any difference to yours, so should be normal... I have found the profiles-Folder but there isn't any controls.sii whatsoever... I don't know where the game gets it from, because there should be one, as I started the game multiple times before... seems all really weird... going to try deleting all ETS2 files (or renaming the folder to save the data) and reinstalling it again, maybe that works...

Regarding the display issue
Found the problem for the display issue. I have two FullHD-monitors, so my X Screen has a resolution of 3840*1080. Every other game I played on this system detects that there are two monitors at play and mostly choose only the primary to display. This game has kind of a wierd behavior, at least for me, that it takes the X Screen dimensions (so 3840*1080) but only displays it on the primary monitor.
Solution
Go to your ETS2 User data folder (should be on /home/[username]/.local/share/Euro Truck Simulator 2). Inside the config.cfg-File look for the following lines and change them to what you need:

uset r_mode_height "1080" uset r_mode_width "1920"

For me it was on line 84/85

Don't know why ETS2 is for me the only game that didn't detect primary display. Maybe I butchered something, but I wouldn't know where, because everything else is working.

Regarding the Controls Issue
I didn't find the controls.sii-File @kaki_gamet suggested, but inside the ETS2 User data folder (so not inside the Profile folder, but in the parent folder) I found global_controls.sii. Deleting that seemed to have reseted it. Next time I launched the game controls where normal. I also saw that the game detected some controller (although only keyboard and mouse plugged in; wheel drivers are installed but the wheel itself isn't plugged in) and what I thought was "Use mouse" was really "Use as mouse" what explains the wierd cursor behavior.

Haven't played the game yet to see if everything works ingame, but at least the main menu is usable now, which wasn't before :D

Sorry for the long answer, thought that maybe a longer explanation could help some people.

You have done well ^^ And I completely forgot of the global_controls.sii ^^'

If your profile folder looks empty most likely it is because your profile is using Steam Cloud. If you don't have need to play on different PCs often maybe it is better to turn it off (from profile selection screen can edit your profile and it will be back on your local driver).
