You can simply get around this by dropping the trailer, adjusting yourself to trigger the spot and then rest. After that, pick up the trailer again and continue.
Uhm, I don't even know how to unhitch... I'll have to look that up. No restrictions as to where you can leave your trailer I suppose (other than being able to hitch it up again)?
However, there do exist parking spots which do not require you to unhitch so as to be usable (the ones where you can parallel park, basically); isn't there a way to make them more obvious in the game itself (for instance, by adding a "+" or something along the bed)?
There is no in-game restriction on where you can unhitch a trailer. You use the same button to hitch and unhitch (default T).
OK, I knew about the T; but I didn't know it was usable outside of the circumstances where the game would tell you that you could use it (when you are at a site and delivering/loading).
I'll have to try it out. Just for reference: you can't unhitch on the move, can you? :p
