How realistic are the roads?
So i've been driving around Europe in game,
and it does seem very, VERY short for some roads to go from A to B.

I'm asking because i might go visit Austria soon IRL,
so are the roads the same, like the highway and such, or?

Will i recognize the road IRL, from the game?

The map scale outside of cities is 1:19 so it is compressed down.

Landmarks you might recognize but just generic places without one (both in game and IRL) likely not.

Looking at in-game world in bits yes, new areas are almost perfect copies of real places, but in a larger view they are placed close together because of the game's scale, so in-game it is like jumping from a place to another skipping real connections.

I had chance to travel to South Italy years ago albeit not by car, but at that time I made use of Villa San Giovanni station and the game depicts it and its surrounding beautifully ^^

Old parts are less realistic, but Austria, France, Germany, Italy and especially Iberia are as realistic as 1:19 scale allows.

I spent years trucking around Europe. It is as real as it gets. Remember, the maps are scaled down. So you have to allow for that. Landmarks, bridges etc are spot on. Even the Humber Bridge is given a good go. All in all. it is a very good job at replicating what one might expect from a drive around the continent. Enjoy it.

You can use google street view to check it. Did it few times and it has been pretty good if the road exists. It's just that game has highways and outskirts of cities, and usually people visit inner city.

Germany only the Autobahn network and a few cities. The remaining cities and country roads are still at (horrible) GTS levels awaiting rework.

I recently found a real location in Linz, Austria. Read the below post

For screenshots, see the full post on instagram, I am on the journey to find real locations in the game.

Drives through countryside heading towards Dover.

Sees "Welcome to London" sign.

Sighs.

But seriously, having driven only around the standard base maps (I've got the DLC packs planned) though most of the views appear genetic, the devs have done a great job at making each country FEEL different and accurate with seemingly very little to work with given the scale and general graphics quality employed. So yeah, it's a thumbs up from me, but really, just keeping the rig between the lines at 80km/h doesn't leave much time for window gazing...
