engine brake indicator?
Hi everybody, I came back to using the engine brake again after a long time off and I also
bought and tried a few new trucks but realized none of them have an indicator for the engine brake neither in the dash panel nor cabin. In ATS this isn't the case. I know you can recognize the sound but sometimes I listen to music while driving and thus it can be hard to notice. I wonder if there has been a change abaut this in recent history or was it always the case because I'm not sure abaut it.

It seems like engine brake for ATS is retarder for ETS2.
In ETS2 most trucks have a visible lever for retarder and some ways to tell it's on on the dashboard. In ATS it's like that but for engine brake.
As you said engine brake in ETS2 is hard to notice beside its sound, and it's the same for retarder in ATS.

I understand this as the games reflecting the different culture of the different sides of the world.

The retarder symbol on the dashboard is a R in a circle...at least in the Volvo

I know at least some of the vanilla trucks do have engine brake indicators. One, maybe the Scania R uses a blue partial ring around the 3rd 3rd of the Tachometer gauge. Either Renault or Mercedes uses a green engine indicator on the left side of the gauges.
