is promod worth it?

If you paid for freeware, you were scammed. Maybe you even didn't get the proper original content you have looking for, so "things" _may_ occur.

@Antaiir maybe I didn't get it right, you're saying donating or paying for something free like ProMods means you were scammed ? If so, nobody forces you to or tricks you in any way to pay for that free content. You're paying to support their work. IF YOU CHOOSE SO, after you enlighten yourself about the fact that the content you are paying for is indeed free, and therefore you only do it as an act of good will towards the work of those whom developed it.

If one pay for downloading ProMods from their own site (promods.net) it is for the benefit of faster and easier download/installation. Bandwidth and server hardware does cost money for the PM team. That way one can support the PM team with 1 euro (or whatever currency one use).

The content itself is free and is available as free download, but slower and somewhat more awkward download/install.

Downloading PM from other sites than their own is not even allowed as stated on the website.

I believe they were saying if you were FORCED to pay for Promods, you were scammed. ProMods does not make you pay, it is an option to download the map faster and support them. If the download required payment, it was not from the real ProMods team.

ProMods have their own incredible looking site, kinda hard to miss, where indeed you can choose from paid download, which is a lot faster, and free download.. There is nothing forced there, as they even provide this service, more download speed, if you pay, while you can always also download it for free. Therefore in a sense they are even fair to those who pay as they get something in return, while their product stays free.

In my opinion it is absolutely worth it. It adds a lot of high quality maps, have used it since ProMods first appeared back in the day. Recommend to use it in combination with Poland Rebuilding and RusMap.

Sure, I understand now what you've meant. Well as stated above, ProMods can be downloaded in a totally free fashion, without paying anything, while the paid download is alternative and only when you need a higher download speed. If you are not in a hurry and don't have an emergency you can always go for the free download.

Yup, Promods and its various other mods are all free. The free route may add a few more steps, but it's overall a free mod with a donation route that takes out a step or two from the process.

If anyone comes to a page where they're forced to pay for PM, it's not a real PM page and like others said, a scam. This seems to happen with a lot of mods, not just PM in this game. I remember reading about some freeware creators who decided to quit largely because of those (and a few of those guys who charge 40 bucks for a truck retaliate at the whole community by making everyone pay for updates from then on.)
