Pathfinder Standalone Map?
Hey, could you please recommend a super small, standalone map? Preferably a Steam Workshop one. I need to discover 100% of a map for an achievement and from what I've read, custom maps should work too.

You only need the base map to get this achievement.
Adding maps just makes it take longer to get.

Yeah, I know DLCs and unofficial map expansions would make it longer, but a standalone map would have its own percentage, wouldn't it? So the chievo would just unlock at 100%, regardless of the base map percentage.

there are no maps in the workshop, and all modern maps need all the dlc.
i do think several standalone maps exist.
better look at scs site.

The workshop does not support map mods. The two standalone maps I am familiar with are the Hungary map and the Grand Utopia map. There are threads on the SCS forum in the map mods area for both maps with links to download them. I do not know if they have been updated to 1.46 yet.

Grand Utopia is a great map, worth the exploring.

I was gonna just make a small map for you, but turns out making a standalone map is more difficult than just changing the time scale(which I've done with the editor before. I could not prevent the standalone map from crashing, so unfortunately can't help you there.

The problem with Standalone map mods is that there are often some issues, or patches of area that you can't reach by driving there, maybe things meant for a future update, etc,...

I recall trying it with Project Japan some time ago and with the now discontinued Tregion map, one of those two worked for me.

If you look on the scs forum and/or trucky mods, there is one called "FSG" (France Swiss Germany) standalone large scale map, and there are a few others based in Germany maps, can't recall their names atm.

Your first achievement is from Dec 7th and now you are left with only Pathfinder and Profit Hunter from base game? If you wanted to burn achievements out you did it pretty well, my congratulations : D

I guess now you can simply drive freely all around as money should be not a problem for your profile anymore. Turn offences off, fatigue off, quick travel as much as you need and don't worry about accidents. If willing, a truck with a taglift chassis can turn on a dime ; )

Thanks. :) That's the way I'm playing games, actually. :D And ETS achievements are usually easy, especially the money/company ones, since the economy is beyond broken.

Thank you all for replies, I might check out Grand Utopia or some other maps, or maybe i could just disable traffic and use devcam and teleport on top of all that kaki_gamet recommended. I mean I'm not really happy to do it that way, but you either take "shortcuts" or lose your mind doing it legit...
I have a suggestion, but it depends if you mind only unlocking the achievement, but keeping your main profile without covering 100% of the road pieces.

If you don't mind it, you can make your own map only for it. Start the game with the parameter "-edit" (without quotes), place a stretch of road under the starting point, and run the map. When you reach the gameplay screen, and start driving your truck, it should mark 100% of road discovery, thus unlocking the achievement.

I'm stealing this topic only for a small off-topic: this is one of the few map mods I'm interested on play. I prefer those standalone and fictional maps than those mods that change the existing map.

if you just want to unlock that Achievement whit out really doing it....why not just use SAM and unlock it with that?

I have actually tried something like that, but it didn't work.. And I mean, it would be nice to discover the base game map, discovering game worlds is something I actually enjoy, but the way it's executed in this game.. It's just needlessly time consuming and tedious. So I dunno, I might use your suggestion or just do it with teleport and disabled traffic, I still haven't decided.

SAM is something I'm strongly against. What would even be the point of achievements if you unlocked them all with a couple of clicks? And I guess just using it for this one particular achievement would be *a bit* different, but still.. I'm not willing to do that.

At least discovering a custom map would be legit, because the achievement description basically doesn't specify which map I should discover, the base game one or a custom one. And I would consider using commands legit too, since I still need to look at the map, see what I'm missing and - for the most part - drive on that stretch of road.

Agree. That was one of the reasons I suggested once, when they started revamping intersections, to lower the threshold for this achievement, for something like 90%. Because it'd mean you haven't covered every single road piece, but for sure visited all roads at least once. I don't think it's nice to drive in circles just to cover a roundabout or a leafclover intersection. 😁

When I unlocked this achievement, all intersections were single-pieced, so all ramps got marked by simply touching it. Now I simply wanna enjoy the ride, not caring about the road discovery percentage.

I guess the fact that I lost my mind many years ago explains why I am happy to make it harder, by imposing the restriction that all discovery has to be done on a job except when bob-tailing between depots from the end of one job to the start of the next within a city and that company yards may only be visited when starting or completing a job, and yet have 100% in both games (albeit that I haven't added Texas yet as I'm waiting for one of my family to buy it for me as a Christmas present).

If You wanna do one of hardest achievements in base ETS2 (if not the hardest to get), then just work for it. Best way is to get a save without any map DLC and just drive. You can always get a mod for a normal, speedy car (like 250km/h) or so. Don't add any map DLC nor map mods cause they will increase what You have to cover

There's no point in getting hard achievement in easy/cheaty way. Getting a small map mod is almost the same as using SAM or any other cheat engine

I'd say in the case of this specific achievement, it was added when the game was smaller and map design was also very different. It's like any early players were kind of "cheating" compared to newer players. No wonder no similar achievement was added to ATS when it was released later.

There are enough "challenging but doable" achievements to worry about - like those that specifies the cargo, the company, the direction and the city. And this specific one lost its purpose, at least if they keep its 100% discovery threshold.
