They don't mention mods, which made me think that it will be the same as with regular convoy at present.

I am sure more feedback will come when people start setting this up for themselves. For me I just do single player, but I know that lots of players also like Convoy.

My only guess the same mod rules still applies here.

This does not change the ETS2 Game software (so, yes, same in-game convoy rules/settings) it only allows SCS to shift the burden of Server costs (financial and bandwidth) to the end-user ..

Convoy was always hosted by the end user. The only thing it changes is that the user gets more options.

Well, technically, it was hosted by a Player, and the session would end when that hosting Player logged out or quit. Instead of SCS hosting their OWN dedicated 24/7 servers, they shifted the burden to "anyone" willing to foot the cost of a dedicated server .. Some of which are pay-to-use or "leased space".

How much of a price increase, or subscription payment, would you think SCS would have to charge to provide those servers? I think that "burden" is rightfully placed on the users who want to have dedicated servers. And this isn't the first game I've owned where the servers are done like this, at the users' expense and control.

You seem to be taking my factual statements as some kind of complaint, or attack against SCS .. I made no statement saying that I had an opinion as to "agree or disagree" or "right or wrong". I simply answered someone's question as to "Rules/Settings" of a session, and qualified it with factual information as to the relationship with Server use/ownership.

Ya, I think it did read a bit like you were. No worries. ;)

Where I was going with this statement, was that I can see someone trying to charge a Subscription to their Server, to play a game they do not own .. By shifting the burden of the Server to an end-user/3rd party, SCS has allowed a 3rd party to make money from their product, without paying a royalty, and thus, losing income they could have made, if they hosted themselves.
