Not really a competitor, fernbus is a different market type than ets2

"Not a real competitor"
Two driving simulators. SCS is about trucking, and this game is about busses. Two totally different games! ..
But either way, having driven on the German autobahn myself, this Fernbus simulator comes 1000x closer to reality than ETS ever did. Aside from the ai.

I thought I'd be underwhelmed by Fernbus, but from what I've seen it's actually quite impressive. I hope the release makes SCS step their game up a bit, since I think they've become somewhat complacent being "top dog". For example weather systems being in-game from launch, as compared to STILL a critical missing feature of ETS 2. Passenger management and the like in Fernbus just adds a whole new level.

I will admit, at first glance, Fernbus looks horrible. But once you get inside the bus and take a look at the roads, it's definitely more detailed than ETS2. Not gonna lie. I would LOVE to have those roads in ETS2. SCS has been setting the standard for simulators for a while now and it actually has a real simulator competitor. Not a truck simulator, but a competitor to simulation games in general. Fernbus just needs more content.

SCS is still doing a Coach Sim?

I'm not interested in buses, but I am in HGVs. No competitions for me; I'll choose ETS2 every single time.

I don't think that Fernbus looks horrible.

Of course it's a competitor both are drivng simulators. You'll find a lot of people don't play ETS 2 just for the trucks. But, I'm a little skeptical about Fernbus, I like the idea, the graphics look great, running on unreal 4 the performance should be great, the map is huge, 1:10 scale map of germany, and from what I've seen the driving physics seem pretty good, and the modding support which will be added later will keep it alive for manyt years. However, it's 3 weeks off release, and currently the core functionality still seems to be completely broken, not even able to pick up passengers and drop them off properly, nor is the game able to calculate how long its going to take to get to the next stop, so your always late, before you even set off Not to mention traffic issues, and a lot of major bugs all over the place. If by some miracle they sort out the biggest issues in the 3 weeks they have it will be a decent game. If not, I think it will die before it even gets out the gate. Considering TML's past record I don't hold too much hope. If it was months away from release none of this would be a problem...but 3 weeks?

Fernbus does look pretty interesting, but I think there's a slight case of apples to oranges here. ETS2 chose to focus in part on building your own truck company (buying garages and trucks, hiring drivers, upgrading their skills, etc), while Fernbus is just the driving.

Also, I can't speak for anyone else, but the simplicity of controls is actually part of the reason I love ETS2. I spend most of my day crunching numbers at college - the more I can switch my brain off or run on auto-pilot while doing a driving simulator, the better.

Fernbus looks like a really sweet game but the relese according to there main site says 25th of this Month Im Like HAHAHHA, I mean dang the level of detail is great and i love the long driving and I Really Really want those Interesting block aids to appear in ETS2 and ATS, But There is no way in hell the game is going to be 100% complete and ready for release when the 25th comes around.

Its a pitty the games web site has so little information about it oh btw its selling for like 40p, which is like $60 Aus or some rubbish maybe even $80, there kidding them selves on this.

I mean great work on the game and all but i think im going to hold off and see if theres more patches after the release of the game.

Btw Thank You soo much for the video of the name games, I have Played bus simulators in the past and they have been somewhat verry limited but then again you can only do so much.

i´m pretty sure that Fernbus is the reason why SCS iced the coach DLC project, even if no one talks about it ...

gotta agree... from all videos i´ve seen there are alot of issues to be fixed still, and i´m pretty doubtful they can polish all that in a few more weeks... well, we´ll see i guess, but i remain sceptical until i see a few reviews after launch that prove me wrong... it has potential, no doubt...

but "has potential" is a label that stuck to too many games lately, which could never live up to that potential...

and tbh, i´d much prefere to have that inside ETS2 and/or ATS, just for the variety. I´m not sure if this game can entertain me quite that long as a standalone... *shrug*

The company management aspect of ETS2 is so poor and basic that it can not be used to justify the shortcomings of the driving part of the game.

there are none to justify, imho... well everyone probably has his own way to look at things, and i for my part like the truck sims just as they are. otherwise i wouldn´t have played them for years now without ever feeling the need for mods. they could, however, start thinking about a rework/ overhaul of the economy part.

plus there is a rather unfair comparison made: comparing the technology that was CREATED by a small indie company and upgraded/ finetuned over the years, with a game that "just" uses the Unreal Engine in one of the latest versions...

i for one don´t care much how the game looks or if the engine supports certain features from the get go or not. as i mentioned further above: i remain sceptical until i see the final product. there are just a few things in Fernbus right now that - how to say it best- "would lower the grade of enjoyability quite a lot" if they don´t get polished.

The fact that ETS2 uses an exotic engine is not a valid excuse. I could make a chair out of my own snot, but when people complained it wasn't sturdy enough, they wouldn't give a rat's arse about how long it took me to make a chair out of snot, choosing to use an inferior engine/material is the maker's fault.
