Ok first of all, the game calls itself a simulator. Doesn't mean it is one.
Second, you people need to learn the difference between speeding and racing.
And third, in real life you can disable the speed limiter. So not being able to only hinders realism in this game.
That would be great if you had actual cops chasing you down.
You are speeding in most European countries if you drive above 80km/h with a truck actually. In France and Germany you are not allowed to drive over 60km/h with a truck on undivided roads.
Option to disable would probaly be fine if there was a more realistic way of being ticketed as in ATS. After driving for a while you know exactly where the speed cameras are and can avoid them. But then you do not care about tickets after a while due to the easy default economy.
You man are a ♥♥♥♥♥♥. Go try complain about realism to other forums, they'll welcome it. Like, go to iRacing and complain that driver doesn't get his hand broken when you crash and to FSX that when you bottle a landing, you are still alive and FSX doesn't destroy itself.
If they run out of arguments that's as good a victory as any.
And it looks like its' happening...
I've played on the ETS2MP servers when they didn't have speed restrictions, the further east you went, the more Russian [RUS] drivers encountered. They were either driving at 150km/hr, or conveniently parked ON the guard rail, or sideways over all 3 lines. Occasionally the entire convoy had crashed.
The speed limit isn't about top speed, it's about vehicle control. Perhaps the customer doesn't want his load of used car batteries parked backwards up a tree.
And that's my fault how? I can handle it just fine. Those who can't are idiots to try and push it past 90 Km/h but it doesn't mean everybody's like that.

Then he shouldn't hire m*rons, rofl.
well actually the engines go up to like 700-800 HP and with a load, are not that fast, if you wanted to race trucks go play gear grinder/sledge hammer, this is a simulator after all so expect the experience to simulate the real world
In the real world you can disable speed limiters genius.
and break the law alright then, my mistake. i forgot its alright to guy drive a truck on a highway ABOVE the legal limit. i guess your the guy that speeds doesnt use indicators in the real world and doesnt obey any road rules.
EDIT: also fairly certain that taking off a speed limiter in a heavy vehicle is illegal, considering its a road law to have a maximum speed of 85/90 KMH. there is no road rule for a maximum speed limit for light vehicles which is why its legal to remove theirs.
Most of us don't bother because it's impossible to explain to people such as yourself.
I already regret going against my words the other day when I said I was done with this because I know that you won't accept what I'm about to say but regardless; ultimately it doesn't matter what anyone says because SCS has essentially said that they won't be removing or adjusting the speed limiter - it's not said as clearly in what I'm about to link you to but I recall I think.. Komfr or something? saying outright in a comment on a thread at the time that it won't be changed/removed.

Q: The game is enforcing 90km/h speed limit for all World of Trucks contracts. I want to disable it. Why can’t I?
A: As the future of World of Trucks is the same universe shared by many players, we have to make sure all players are on the same footing and have equal opportunities as well as limitations. At the moment we are looking for the right balance between strict control of certain aspects of gameplay and the ability to customize the experience according to player's preferences. In any case, at the core of the game there must be a set of "canonical" rules that everybody will have to adhere to so that there is fair comparison between players and their skills. The speed limiter currently looks like a solid candidate for such a limitation - otherwise people bending physical and legal rules would have an edge over players playing by the book.
Just to clarify I'm speaking now, haha, incase anyone thinks what's after that is what SCS said.
There already is a system that accommodates both playstyles. You want to see how fast you can go? Don't do contract jobs, just take a job from the market. Want to do contract jobs? You have to accept the rules because, ultimately, it's the foundation of which an official MP feature will eventually be built from - it's as simple as that.
This same kid doesn't understand why people were not receptive of his suggestion for monster trucks in Stardew Valley...
Yes, you can. My proposal is, make it like in real live on WoT contracts - some random police checks, if you have removed speed limiter during control, huge fine (in ets lets say 1'000'000€ or 20% of your game cash), loose of truck (police confiscate it), and ban on WoT contracts for several months (jail and keeping driving licence). Those are consequences of removing speed limiters in real life. Let's do it that way. What is the difference between blocking it, and making it like in real life? Nobody would try this, as penalties are to high.
Yes I do. It's because they're a bunch of bigoted purists.
I would. At least then we know some effort went into making the game "realistic" and not just cheap shortcuts like these.
