Must-have Accessories
I finally have some money to spend on ETS2 and was wondering what you couldn't play ETS2 without.

Myself i have a Track-IR 5 from my time as a <cough> Grunt in Arma 2. It is cool to look around using your head, makes keeping an eye on traffic and manouvers easier. It gets pretty natural to look at your mirrors for instance. BUT! setting the ingame mirror right on, and then just using your mouse works pretty well, so if it is worth getting a track IR for ETS2? Not sure, depends on how much money you have to spend.

I'd say a better idea would be a set of steering wheel and pedals. Like the G27. Or if you are unsure you may want a cheaper starting kit. It is most amusing, though i don't have one my self anymore. (Have to many 'toys' already.) It will allow you to use it for all your driving games. The track IR isn't always supported.

Now BOTH, both is awesome!!! I should get a wheel.

logitech g27. and if you have extra money, buy track ir or oculus dk2

Yah, what they said. A good FFB wheel, like G27 Logitech (good enough unless you are
a drug dealer or something).
(I upgraded from my old Logitech MoMO)

TrackIR 5 (basic is all one needs, don't bother with the pro version) is great and greatly enhanced my enjoyment of this game , not to mention games like Assetto Corsa (weakly supported but it works , game is still alpha), Dirt 2,3 , etc.etc.

Corsair 2500 speaker system. KICK A S S.
(only good if you dont have family members who will complain, or neighbors, otherwise I'd avoid )

Otherwise use a good set of headphones that can faithfully deliver down to 35 Hertz.

Plus some other incidentals, like rubber isolation mounts for the wheel, a under desk
3M keyboard platform (80 bucks there) to help me deal with a now near perm wheel mount situation where my keyboard used to be)

Yeah, I bought all that (not the headphones, have those already) for THIS GAME.
HAHAHA.

I consider it well spent cash. Not a single regret.

Oh, I forgot to mention. I later added a 'suicide knob' I got on Amazon for my game wheel.

Cool beans.

one thing to remember about the g27 and it's cousins for those that don't have one yet. It's not all about money, these things are bulky and take up lots of space. And you need a proper desktop to clamp it to. Then when you want to do something else with your computer, you have to take it all off and find some place to put the wheel and pedal assemblies that is out of way.

The G27 is a must if you have a low budget, one day I hope to aquire all of the Fanatec parts to assemble a decent sim cockpit for and racing game. Sadly you're look at at around $2,000 for the full kit, can think of better things to spend that sort of money on at the moment.

As for TrackIR, it's ok but I'll stick with my Oculus Rift DK2. Face tracking is nice, face tracking in 3D is EPIC. It's not the greatest quality at the moment but it will only get better.

no accesories for me, I'm fine with driving with keyboard (most players hate it I know, but it works for me)

I wouldn't be playing this game at all if SCS didn't add the simple automatic control method, I thank them for that.

Coffee. I don't need gadgets. If you have to have extras to play a game, then I wouldn't buy it.

I use my PS4 controller to play. Works fine for me. I play in the simple automatic mode myself as well.

I am sorry for being a "noob" but this is the first time I hear about this thing called TrackIR 5. So basically having it is like moving the mouse to look around but now you do it with your head? (Jesus what year it is, I still play CS go with my 10 year old Dell mouse.)

Thank you for your answer!

TrackIR is a special camera that's mounted on top of your monitor and tracks your head movement. A full list of supported games is on their website and tells you what categories are supported. If I recall, ETS2 supports 5 of the six categories.

I wouldn't play the game without my Logitech game pad. The button mappings are fully customizeable so you can fine tune it to whatever works best for you.

As far as in-game accessories, get light bars and load them up with lights. They make driving at night so much easier.

Which gamepad do you have?
