Changing truck while in-game
Is it possible to change between trucks in your garage?

I want to have two trucks available, one for general haulage trailers (a 4x2 unit), one for heavy haulage trailers (a 6x4 unit).

Then when i am out on the road in my 4x2, if i come across a heavy load, anything on a lowbed trailer, i would like to select my 6x4 for just that job.

Just go into your garage, truck manager, click on truck, click drive it.

Bare in mind, when you do this it will ALWAYS place you at your main HQ garage.

So if you have your HQ in London and a second garage in Paris, even if the truck you want to switch to is in Paris you will end up back in London.

Should be changin that. I reckon you should go to the truck, not the truck come to you. If the truck you wanna drive is in Paris, then by selecting "drive it" on that truck in your company manager, you quick travel to the garage where that truck is. Simple.
I don't understand why it wasn't that way from day #1.

Further, I reckon you should be able to nominate a truck as 'default' so whenever you choose 'drive' it on that truck, you travel to your home garage.

This shows that ets2 is very close to reality. Because if you apply it in real life where you have two trucks for your use. You got into one and contracted a job going to a far away place to deliver it. You will be leaving your other truck parked in your garage. So changing instantly to the other one will be physically impossible unless you travel back to that garage where you left the other truck and travelling back to the city where you stumbled upon the job you liked.

very close to reality?
You mean it's realistic that if you are in Germany delivering a trailer, and you finish that job and decide you want to change trucks and your home garage is in London, you end up in London. Let's not forget that your other truck is still in Germany.
So you do a job from Londond to Stockholm. You finish that job and want to swap back to the previous truck. Guess what? It's now magically in London, not Germany.
All I'm saying is that it should be that when you jump out of a truck and start driving one of your other trucks, the truck you get out of doesn't teleport back to your home garage.
Saving data in the save game file keeps track of vehicle wherabouts. Simples.

No it's not. You've auto-driven it back to your HQ where you exchanged it for the other one. Presto, both trucks are now in London.

So you are fine with the truck teleporting to you, but are not fine with the game auto-driving the truck to the HQ? Thats some odd logic there.

Seems like something for a mod, a "mobile garage" of sorts. Making the game remember where you dump your trucks seems to add unnecessary complication to the system with no real gains.

Roll with a mid lift, best of both worlds - minus the fuel tank of the 4x2. Lift the wheels up for light loads, there's your 4x2. When you're taking a heavier load get them down for a 6x4.

Surely a mid lift becomes a 6x2 with the axle down??

Not at all. A truck should remain where you left it. Truck manager keeps track of all trucks anyway.
