I can't get my truck to reverse?

Hi.
It's probably me doing something silly....
Updated to 1.25
Went into my non modded profile and went to a DAF garage and bought the new style XF
Picked a job and drove over all okay.
Then when I tried to reverse to pickup the trailer it keeps stalling
Checked my settings.
I then bought a MAN and tried that. No luck.
I see "R" in the gear selector.
I hear the beeping reverser sound
But as soon as I release the clutch it doesn't move and stalls.
I've a G27 which was working fine
I've tried some of my other profiles, and bought new trucks and the same problem

Does anyone have any ideas to help!??

Maybe the hand brake is on (space)?

You need to use the gas pedal while also letting go of the clutch. Way easier to do IRL since you can feel when the clutch starts to grab (which is when you need to give it gas). I just start pressing the gas pedal slowly when the clutch is at 50% and once I start moving I apply more gas and let go of the clutch.

That's all I can think of other than if the Parking Brake is on that won't help anything. Even if you didn't raise the landing gear you could still move since trucks still have enough power to drive with the landing gear down, you'll just end up damaging your landing gear.

Other thing you could do is go to the settings and make sure that your pedal axis (Clutch, Brake and Gas) are actually registering.

what reverse gear are you in , 1 or 2 might be a differant number , but the left most red button on your gear stick base switches them from low to high :) just a thought .

Go to in game wheels settings and see at accelerate and brake pedals are in combined mode, If not then click accelerate in settings and set it again, Press accelerate pedal so at its report it as combined, Also in G27 Profile go to "Edit" >>> "Specific game settings" >>> and check 2 boxes where read at: "Use special steering wheel settings" and "Report combined pedals"

Thanks for the suggestions.

I did some further testing and found that the problem only appears on profiles which have had a mod enabled at some point.

The main profile I use (level 66) used to have the "logosys" mod on many years ago but that was switched off several years ago. The others I tried all have active mods.

I also have two "clean" profiles and I can reverse the truck onto trailers without issue.

So it looks like something in the update has stopped these profiles which have had a mod enabled at any point from working.

I did check all the settings but as the pedals/clutch etc all work fine in the never modded profile (and ATS) I think I'm screwed for these profiles - which isn't great :-(

It would be nice if there was a tool to clear our old and obsolete dependencies. Not long ago I had to scratch a profile due to me not being aware of that simply deleting mod files isn't enough.
You have to remove them in-game as well.

Noyon, Well sorry to hear if you lost profile:( But in future, If you remove mod from mod manager, Save changes, Continue game and (Continue anyway when its says at specific mod is removed, And load that last auto save, Then when you are on game delete all auto saves and save game with your profile name, Then quit game and go to mod folder and delete that mod wich you removed, Close mod folder, Backup your profile, Mod folder,Screenshots, Music etc to safe place like slave HDD, Then uninstall game and reinstall it, You dont lost any DLC's you might have or launch options and so on, After you reinstalled game again, Start game and when you are on that profile creation just close game (Alt + Tab) and slelect that ETS2 application in lover edge in your desktop with right mouse button and choose "Close window" , Then pick up your saved backup files to Euro Truck Simulator 2 folder and start game again, Voila !

I am not sure about other mods but removed Truck, Map, Sound, Trailer, AI mods broke game, So thats why reinstall.

Jotada. Thanks for your very detailed instructions.
I've followed them to the letter but in my case it didn't have any effect :-(
I may try again but for the moment I'm accepting I'll have to start some new profiles!

You are welcome, When you start make new profiles i recom at you create at least 3, 1 totally without mods (Vanilla) with that you can play no worries about mods combality problems + also WoT online jobs work, Second profile for Beta test (Of course without mods as it is recommeded) With that you can enter upcoming Beta test, And 3rd profile with mods + Promods map as it is best what i know. This way you can always play ETS 2 even SCS update game and no need to wait ProMods update their map for to newest version of game.

I did try to go along those lines.
While I couldn't get your solution to work I did have some old back up's I'd made of my profiles so I thought I'd at least give them a go and they both work.
I've lost a few levels here and there but both profiles are back.
The main profile is now saved as no mods so fingers crossed that'll work
My other profile I restored is the "mod" one with Rus Map and Promods.
I may well set up a WOT profile just for that and try and keep everything separate.

Most of all I'll back up my profiles before any further updates. I've been thorugh a LOT of updates over the years and this is the first one to cause any problems!

Once again that's for taling the time to offer your help. It's great to have people like you helping out the community. Keep up the good work and keep on truckin' :-)

Thanks dude, By the way; WoT online jobs wont work on with map mods, So like i do ill use profile without mods or with few mods, But just at cant use profile where is modded map. I think at cant use trailer and cargo pack mods either.

I had the same problem. The truck would just brake and that's it. I use my mouse to control and I found I can also use that to throttle and brake. That was preventing me from reversing probably because my throttle was clashing with my brake. I just use the mouse to reverse but I sometimes have trouble using the mouse to shift between A and R.

Did you do a verify check to make sure the files are in oder? I am not having any issues forward or reverse. I can even pull away from a dead stop on a incline loaded.. And I am on the G29 controler set.
