Will there ever be a damage/ dirt/ rust model for trucks ?
In the current state the trucks look way too pristine after long journeys. That's not natural, there should be visible bending on the truck when you hit something, dirt after a couple of km and rust if you don't repaint your truck for a while.

I know games older than ETS2 that had at least some of these features implemented. I don't want to hear about mods, as these features should be supported in native.

What are your opinions on this matter ?

Volvo & Mercedes have allowed visual damage of some degree in Forza Horizon 4, including their trucks. However, I could imagine there is a additional fee for visual damage, and SCS didn't want pay extra. They we're not very wealthy company when starting ETS2. Also, there is no single Scania (or Saab) vehicle in Forza, so maybe it's Scania which doesn't allow any kind of visual damage. It would be strange if there would be visual damage for any other than Scania vehicle in ETS2, so better no damage at all.

Anyway, that's just all guessing, I don't have any information on licensing terms within either game that no-one here wouldn't have.

And my personal opinion on subject: Yes, dirt & rust & visual damage are all OK, but there are more important things to implement.

Sure. But as far as I've understood it's a problem with licensing or branding, for a truck to look bent or crashed. But a shattered window or mirror I don't think it falls under the same category. Or a head light that's not working anymore.
Although not deep as a bend or a crash, shattered glass qualifies as visual damage too.

About dirt, although in game it's TECHNICALLY applied the same way as scratches or shattered glass (in this case, textures), there's no licensing problem. Like hackintoshchap already posted, Pavel mentioned on a livestream they were indeed working on visual dirt, but they weren't still happy with the results of it.

Then we now know which companies were fine with it - and by logic which ones WEREN'T. 😁

This game is only to sell trucks in real world. That is all. No this is not a joke. Scs made a deal with the truck makers to help them sell trucks and make a game as well, win win for them both. You and I must accept that the truck will never rust or get bang up as that will not sell trucks. No one buys a 150,00.00 rust bucket . This just a my two cents.:steammocking:

Unless SCS rewrites the entire game, and DLC's, for an engine that allows for physical damage and dirt/wear, it isn't possible. That's what it all boils down to. Now, are you ready to buy entirely new copies of ETS2 and ATS, new DLC's, new mods, etc.? I'm not, and I can live with my trucks always looking nice

About physical damage... You know... The easiest thing is to blame licensing. And that s a very lazy excuse. From '90. Used by lazy developers that didn't want to bother with it.

And, let's assume this is correct.... But what on the world preventing SCS to implement it on AI cars, vans and vehicles which aren't licensed.

About dirt... I would bet I saw AI traffic police car with dirt on it. I managed to record it in one of my videos but can't remember which. So, I think it might be closer than we think.

Quite simple and has been already stated:

Meaning that people would complain that there is no physical damage on the trucks but on other vehicles in the game. Physical damage only works if all vehicles can have it or none.

Said by someone who probably have any excuse to not take the garbage out. Even if we assume it's an "excuse", we can't deny they're working on several other stuff.

Nothing. Random events on road have damaged vehicles.

Watch your mouth. You don't know nothing about me.
If you're satisfied with the pace of development, let others not to be. And don't make things personal. It's not nice at all.

Who are mentioned trucks? Even IRL when you see a truck - car accidents, there's almost not visible damage on truck, but car can looks like it dropped out of BeamNG. So... I'm obviously talking *AI unlicensed vehicles*

Did you notice that only SCS generic trailers burn down and neither Schwarzmüller nor Krone
- and the driver always manages to uncouple the (licensed) tractor unit and drive it away from the fire...?

Again, saying that after calling the others "lazy" because not satisfied with the pace of development, but don't know a thing about them.

Wanna a cup of coffee with that hypocrisy?

How much unrealistic fun boys.... Where is healthy criticism. Without it there is no real progress. It took the game far away from simulation.
Well... If I have every single DLC I think I can say what's wrong.

And really, stop. If you don't know how to discuss as an adult, then it's better for you to avoid it.

And for God's sake, why are you acting like I was talking to you, just skip it. Really, stop. If you don't know how to discuss as an adult, then it's better for you to avoid it.
