When do I use headlights?
So I'm new, when it's like 20:00 it finesme for not using it but it looks bright enough. But I also don't want to turn it on too early and get fined too.

Also if any one can recommend some mods tqqq(. ❛ ᴗ ❛.)

You should turn it on. However the best is to have them always on as there are countries that require you to have them on 24/7.
That is in real life, game doesn't simulate it.

If you have your headlights constantly on you won't ever get a fine for that. Also your truck won't use more fuel for that and a battery is not being simulated.
This is one option, the other one is to have your low beams on from about 6pm and until 8am. Ah, and don't forget to have them on if it is raining either, any kind of rain, light or storm.

@Wolfgang - why don't you update your copy-paste bible? Things change, some are gone, some are new, some are broke, some never were there. Test it by yourself, it is always the best option.

To actually turn them on you have to press the key for the light twice. The simple test is whether or not you can turn your high beams on. If you can then you have your headlights (the lowbeams) on. Otherwise you either have your parking lights on or they are off.

Kit is always allowed to have the llow-beams on, in some countries even mandatory. In these countries you might get a finne for NOT having them on even in daylight. Even in the game.

I don't think there is any in-game penalty for using high-beam in dayrime. The traffic meeting you will blink but rhat:s all.

AFAIK Norway still requires headlights on 24/7 even in the game. If not then this is a bug and should be reported.

@Magnus - Yes, there is no fine for having low beams always on, but there is either no fine for not having them on in day-time (between 8am and 6pm and if it is not raining).

@Wolfgang - Will try Norway next time, last time spent weeks in Sweden but if you want to go the bug report way then include all countries that require it. I'm fine whatever will be.

@Sea - I'm pretty sure timing is the same everywhere, it is just that the fine itself is slow to come so one can get it very late before to realize "Oh, is getting dark in Finland (maybe)." -.-

Just turn them on a leave 'em on. Low beams that way, when entering countries/towns and/or, cities that require them to be on, you won't get fined for not having them on. It's not going to hurt in any way to leave them on.

But that is not correct, people complain of occasional tickets between 8am and 6pm when it is not raining. Best advice remains headlights on if the engine is running.

To sum it all up, ALWAYS turn them on as soon as you start your engine, make it a habit :-).

irl I only turn them on when it gets dark, or entering a tunnel or a carpark in a building/underground.

On a side note, if you're driving (or ever will) a green car irl also always turn them on, i can't see green cars, they blend in too much with nature.
on truckers-mp online you have to turn it on if you are playing
if u don't want to kick out of The game some areas are have lights on the truck and some areas are not u must turn on if it not day time out with solo you do whatever
you want to do if you want to plan on have truckers-mp
you must turn on light some areas

Turn them on and leave them on, then you won't get fined in places where you forget to turn them on. Simples.

I was driving through a town yesterday during the day and didn't realise I was on high beam. A police car flashed me to let me know I had high beam on so I gave them a wave in thanks instead of giving them the finger. First time I've seen the police do that in the game.

Not only police cars. Every car or truck will flash if you forget to turn off high beams. The same is, when the AI stops to give you right of way in cases where you don´t have it. Then they´re flashing too.

I know this has been answered already, but gonna chime in, you can just leave them on all the time these days, as they get disabled during daylight hours anyway(easily see-able in darker tunnels etc)
