That is fully on you to decide. Personally, I never had issues with Steam Cloud. But then again, Steam managed to mess things up a lot with it.

It is a double edged sword. Cloud save can help you over a horrible hard drive failure but it can also mess stuff up.

Steam cloud is not safe mate. When it goes wrong, it goes very wrong. Had to start over in two different games because of this little gem. I don't use it.

It depends. It can be handy but It can also crash as hell. mostly your pc is good enough to keep up with the data. but the steam cloud can be a good backup. I never had any problems with it. :)

Steam Cloud is NOT a back-up. Your locally saved profile folder will be empty at all times. Unless you are fully aware of what there is behind and how to reach your precious files in a different way, stay away from it. Only reason to use it is when you swap from a device to another on a daily basis, otherwise best option is always an external manual back up, or two.

Personally, I've never had a problem with Steam Cloud. If anything it has saved my bacon on several games when I migrated onto a new PC. But as you can see by these posts that your mileage may vary. Cheers!

I recommend to have it on, because if you reinstall the game with steam cloud off then you will have to start all over again and if you have it on then you will have what you had and get to keep your profiles, but I can't judge you so you get to choose, just recommendations.

I too have had steam cloud delete my save for an older one in another game tho.

Bottom line: if you are happy for someone else to manage your data and backing it up then turn on Steam cloud for your profiles. If you like to be in control of your own backups and be able to prove that you can restore from them then do not enable Steam cloud on your profiles and you can manage backups in the same way as you do any other applications that store data in your Documents 'folder'.

My take: any backup that you've not tested a restore from is as good as no backup at all.
