How do I convert the extractet SCS file back to .scs ?
Hi!
I converted the def.scs file via "scs_extractor" to change some values (not importand for this question) and can't figure out to convert the files back to the original .scs format.

Is there a way to do that and if so, how?

Can't you just make a mod for whatever you want to change?

@Underscore_101_3 it's not a mod. I am trying to change the values directly in game.

...which you can do by packaging your changes as a mod

yes, right. but I can't use said mod in TruckersMP (forgot to add that) My guess is that it's only possible to convert it into a .zip file and use it as a mod because converting it back to a .scs file isn't possible?

You shouldn't be trying to use a modded game in TMP in the first place

"yOu ShOuLdN't bE TryInG tO uSe a MoDdEd gaMe in TMP iN tHe FirSt PlaCe" Dude, let that be my problem, In the first place. Plus it doesnt actually give me a advantage or others a disadvantage. (Why comment if you don't know anything about it?!)

Even if you could pack the base file back into the proper scs format, at the time steam (or the game) checks the checksum for that it would fail and get redownloaded to fix the "damaged" files.

This too will create actual SCS archives, but the CRC Checksums are going to to be totally different. https://forum.scssoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=248485
May be what you want, it may be not.

It sounds more like OP wants to accomplish a "save edit" kind of change, altering the values of in-game truck assets.

If so, just make a mod of the changes you want to have, install the mod in SP, save your game, then remove the mod. Next time you load, the game will complain that the mod is missing, but you can continue without worry because the mod wasn't adding anything new to the game so when it parses your truck configuration there won't be any issue rendering because all the parts are vanilla parts.

This is how people get those crazy configurations in TMP; they go nuts with save editing. ;)
