If this were true, there wouldn't be any engine sound mods after FMOD was introduced. ;)
Pre fmod you could seperately swap the engine sounds without changing the engine itself.
Ive done that plenty of times, because I wanted different sounds than the Scania 730hp stock sounds.
Sadly with fmod it changed and the trucks had the Scania sounds again due to the Scania engines.
True, however, changing sounds and things like that has never been a "save edit" kind of operation because you can mod those things without tampering with a save file.
Additionally, I had at first thought OP wanted engine sounds changed, but now read correctly that they want increased HP, not sound from another engine. This again, is a mod thing and nothing that requires tinkering with a save file.
The question was about making a change to the engine and perhaps OP was using the terminology they thought was appropriate. And since they were wanting to change HP, not sound, the whole topic regarding FMOD is moot. :P
