IS the option that automatically turns off blinkers realistic?
Yea, is it? You have to turn wheel into neutrall position for the blinker to go off, do reall trucks really have that kind of a feature? Especially more modern trucks? Seems logic to me that this kind of feature would be implemented in modern trukcs for a driver to switch on.

They have been that way for decades.

I don't know about European trucks, but American trucks I drove you had to manually turn off the turn signal. That was over 15 years ago when I drove though. I think the primary reason is so the driver can use his/her own judgement (i.e. make sure their trailer clears a turn before cutting the signal).

even low class cars have those feature - really common

It seems to be more common in European trucks than USA trucks. I've always heard this reasoning:

While making a turn, you may not actually be done when the signal cancels. The trailer still has to make the turn. If you're doing a button-hook or even simply going wide, the signal will cancel long before the turn is actually completed. If some idiot tries coming up your inside and they see your signal suddenly go off, they're gonna think you changed your mind and now you have a pancake under your trailer.

Also as a professional, you should have full awareness of the state of your signal, and turning on and off should be an intentional maneuver. It is something that should not be automatic. [and no demand in the industry for it]

I have heard some Freightliner Cascadia's offer self-canceling as an option, but it is definitely not common.

I remember my father's trucks were non-cancelling turn signals (International 9200, Freightliner FLD, Freightliner Cascadia).

From the Cascadia owners manual chapter 4 "Lighting Controls" subsection:

The turn-signal lever is mounted on the left-hand side of the steering column. Pulling the turn-signal lever up activates the right-turn signal; pushing it down activates the left-turn signal. The lever is typically a non-canceling combination turn-signal, windshield wiper/washer switch, and high beam headlight control unit. See Fig. 4.5 .
When a turn signal is activated, a green telltale light flashes on the instrument panel.
On a self-canceling turn signal lever, the lever automatically returns to the neutral position when the steering wheel returns to the straight-ahead position after a turn.

Apparently, you could have cancelling turn signals as an option.

I have always thought that the turn indicators was cancelled manually when the driver's hand passes the lever when returning the steering wheel back to straight ahead. Normally done by muscle memory almost without thinking about it.

But I have never driven an IRL truck so I don't know how its done nowadays.

I have driven a lot of different trucks in real life and ...
The indicators do turn off automatically when you turn the wheel into neutral. It's quite neat actually. Like the wheel rights itself when you have made a turn with your truck.

More or less the only times it doesn't auto turn off irl as well as in game is for example when exiting a roundabout when you don't steer too far in to trigger it.

Interesting! So, European cancels and North-American does not :)

Technically, both switching off the blinkers manually, and using the option for the blinker to be swithched when you center the wheel IS used acording to the drivers judgement. I'm talking about a feature that you can switch on and off with a button. Sadly, cand tdo it in the game but in reality, if twucks have such a feature now, i bet it requires one push of a button. When you oonly turn left or right, without centering the wheel untill youre finished with your turn you can use that option, if you will manuvere more and that will include centering of the wheel BEFORE you're done with your turn then you can switch off that option.

And even if you have auto off blinkers installed, you can always turn the blinker on again after it cancels itself during manuvering, it's not an issue, happened few times in ETS/ATS to me, just switched it back on when i still needed it.
