remove the speed limit in the "external contracts" mode!!!
remove the speed limit in the "external contracts" mode -
we do not buy the most expensive trucks in order to drive at the
speed of a dead turtle !!!
and those who want to throw up in the GAME will turn on the restriction themselves:ne::flammable:

Need For Speed: Truck edition.

I actually used to feel about this as OP, but then I realized the game is about trucking and I was ruining the experience for myself by racing to get faster money.

Embrace the slow paced gameplay, the game is better for it.

Driving too fast increases the risk of accidents (fines and higher repair expenses) and Damage Penalties (lower revenue).

Take it from a retired heavy haulier. You don't use speed on outsized or max weight loads. In the UK ordinary loads are restricted to 56mph max. The bigger and heavier a load, the speed is reduced greatly. Some dangerous goods have the same limits. Only fools rush in. And end up losing their load.

I was stuck in Swansea and only contracts available were 2,500 mile journeys for gifts. Theres no way I have time to do that journey, got to do another 12 of those for the personal reward. So I fired up ATS, and low and behold, 200 mile one straight away. Seems ATS is the one to do it in right now.

Just drive to the next city to look for other gifts jobs then. Or sleep or advance time via the console. Or the easiest way: use free cam and teleport to hop from city to city.

It seems to me that in single player at least, whether one follows the speed limit, traffic laws etc, should be left to the agency of the player.

I don't see a compelling reason why external contracts should be the exception. That being said, I think this is ultimately a trivial issue. Even if you absolutely hate going 'slow' for whatever reason you can take contracts of short distances to knock out the event in a relatively small amount of time.

Just take a job in the range you'd like and then abandon it. It will be replaced by another, which may or may not be gifts. Rinse and repeat as necessary.

Thanks for that tip, i didnt know that was a thing. Wont I get punished for abandoning a job? Never done it before.

I've quit external contracts and it's never given me any form of punishment for doing so. Regular freight you do get dinged though. Either way, when clicking abandon contract it should indicate if/what it will cost so you can back out from cancelling one.

I see lot of people have suggested NFS. Problem is, there are no trucks, I believe. However, I got an solution. Forza Horizon 4 (and most likely 5 too) does have an Volvo racing truck, called "Iron Knight". You can drive about 200 km/h with that. If buses are more of you thing, it's got an old Volksvagen bus too, it's terribly to handle, but also heavily modded by default, so you can drive something like 200 km/h with it too. And how about vans, buggies and that kind of stuff? Don't let me get even started... I play both games and really enjoy that they are two different things, but they both are about driving (well, some folk believe that ETS2 is
all about the cargo, and there's nothing wrong with that).

We can't, we are not the devs.

Since the restrictions are pretty realistic, i see no problem there. This is not a racing game.

You ignore the fact, that you don't have to drive real world distance... i would consider this a compensation for people with too little time for a videogame.

This was discussed literally a thousand times. ;-)

Antaiir;

no one is stopping you from following stupid bot at a speed of 30 km/h
