Which version is best to launch?

I remember reading somewhere about which of the 7 or 8 versions is teh best one to launch but I can't find it anymore. Is it just "Euro Truck Simulator 2" or is DX11 64bit? Also... what's teh difference?

If you are on Windows and your GPU supports DX11.1 then you should use DX11.
If you are not on Windows or your GPU doesn't support DX11.1 then you should use OpenGL.
You should generally use 64bit as this gives the game more RAM to use.
If you just select "Start ETS2" then Steam will use the option you chose for the last successfull launch.

The simple "Play Euro Truck Simulator 2" option, the first one, just uses whatever you launched with last.

Typically you'd only need to select DirectX 11 64bit once(on most systems) and you'll be set. OpenGL is an alternative if you have some issues or are playing a non-Windows operating system.

If you launch ETS2 from the first launch you see at the very top. Play it for 10-15 minutes. And then quite out of the game. Restart the game in Direct 11X. And then you will notice considerable differences in the game. The inside of the truck cab looks alot cleaner,sharper and more relastic. Also the cloud and general scenery looks alot more beautiful than the normal launching one. I use it in DX11. And love it.

If you are playing with the current version then you are imagining things because the dx11 option does nothing these days as it is the default.

The Pitts, I started playing with DX11. I always used the default one. Trust me i have noticed a large difference, However i do have my Graphics maxed, And using a RTX 3080 GPU..

Bird-dude, what Pitts means is that the game will detect whether your system supports DX11 and use it by default on that first launch and there wouldn't have been anything to notice by explicitly selecting for that option the next time you ran the game.
