I have also read that it can be caused by mods and plugins that are not using the newer "how the damage is assigned to truck and trailer parts".

This is the one aspect of this reported issue (ie. I've not seen it personally) that I don't grok. What the change did was remove a wear attribute from various vehicle accessory entries and instead moved the damage percentages to three (for trailers) or five (for trucks) new attributes of the vehicle unit. All of that is within the control of the SCS code and it is difficult to see how a mod or plugin could somehow work around that. Very strange.

It's a save editor tool that, I'm guessing, goes into the save file to reset those deprecated values on your non-updated mod trucks/trailers.

Handy if the mod isn't being updated anymore, you're not savvy to edit the mod yourself, and you just can't live without it. ;)

Yes it is a save editor and I tried it to see if it worked on the damage and it did.
I did nothing else, but there are tons of options to change your profile, for the better or for the worse. Easy to get rid of all that money we have stockpiling :steammocking:

I believe as part of 1.43 something changed in the wear/damage system of trucks.

"TBD (moved wear from accessories to vehicle descendants) "

https://modding.scssoft.com/wiki/Games/ETS2/Modding_guides/1.43

As I see it part of your truck is gaining wear but cannot be repaired because the wear is appearing where it should not and the "repair" process doesn't go there to put a 0 on the counter.

So that aforementioned save editor is your best option
