Where are those "codex" files located? If they're on the game's "bin" folder, it's not a "normal" Steam file but actually you store a pirated version of the game. Those "codex" files used to bypass Steam integration and authentication.
I mentioned that codex file just because of the videos on yt and that people have solved problem like mine/ something like mine by deleting that file.
Please post your complete game.log file from the crash to http://pastebin.com (copy/paste, split the game.log if it is too big) and post the link to it here please. This way we can find out what the problem is.
You can find your game.log in your documents in the ETS2 folder as a default install on Windows. (If it is not there check OneDrive.) On a Mac the ETS2 folder is in your Library and there in the Application Support. On Linux the ETS2 folder is in the .local and there in the share.
