Scania 12+2 gearbox and Logitech G29 + shiftter setup
Hi, please, would you be so kind and help me with following. If I set the shifting mod Scania 12+2, thera are speeds marked with letters and numbers.

1st)
Please, what are the RL, L1, L2, L3.... and RH, H1,H2, H3 .... speeds ? R is reverse, that’s clear, C1, C2 are speeds for climbing, if I’m right.

2nd)
I used the standard 12 speeds gearboxes and the shifting setup ‘RANGE’ with standard H setup 1-3-5/2-4-6-(R1) and after switch 7-9-11/8-10-12-(R2).
I had a problem to climb some hils with heavy loads with this gearbox and that’s what I switched to this gearbox.

Would it also be possible to set all the 12+2 speeds as ‘RANGE’ ? Is it possible to make setup e.g. Like this: 1-3-5/2-4-6-(R1) switch1 7-9-11/8-10-12-(R2) switch2 C1-C2 ?

Once you have more then 12 forwards gears (in this case 14), then yes, the default range (and splitter) go a bit wierd. In this case, the 2nd toggle is used to create a 3rd range (or for splitter, a 3 way split). This means that for 14 forward speeds, the top 2 gears are in a range all of their own, as you want, it makes more sense to put the 2 bottom (crawler) gears in their own range.
Note that the default/auto generated shift patterns don't treat teh crawler gears as different in their names, so simply numbers gears 1 to 14, with 3 being the "real" 1st gear, and 1 and 2 the crawler gears.

The specific Scania 12+2 shifting option attempts to accurately represent the real shifting pattern, and is a range/splitter, ie uses both together. Specfic shifting patterns like this can also rename the gears, which it does. With splitter gears, it is common to refer to the high(H) and low(L) version of a gear position, so that 1, 2, 3,4 ... 11, 12 gears get named 1L, 1H, 2L, 2H, .... 6L, 6H.
Similarly the two reverse gears get name RL and RH.

What you want to do is certainly possible, but requires getting your hands dirty with notepad or similar and creating your own shift pattern.
I've down that myself to create "sensible" extensions of the default splitter for having crawler gears and/or four reverse gears.
All gearboxes in these game is a automatic gearboxes with specs based on those, wich in turn are turned in to automatics just like in most modern vehicles today. Automated manuals.
Thats why you see no shifter or clutch in the trucks. There is specific setups in the control settings for the gearboxes. As long as you use the original gearboxes in the game I believe all presets are in the game. If you dont see them, you might need to clear your settings and let the game make new ones. I had that issue back when the heavy cargo dlc came with new gearboxes and stuff, the presets was not present in one of my profiles. I never use the generic setup.
Oh and finally we get 16 speeds in more trucks, not sure if they meant all, even the Scania's but atleast more, like the DAF should get one and thats the most important to me! :D Not yet checked since I just installed the 1.30 beta now... :D

No there's not. There's specific custom shift patterns for scania/volvo/zf 12 and 12+2 shift patterns, which have to be selected manually, but just selected "splitter" or "range" means it auto generates a formulaic pattern based on the amount of gears in the transmission and nothing else.
These scania/volvo/zf layouts were added with the update accompanying the heavy cargo dlc, but weren't automatically added to existing profiles, that's probably what you're remembering.

Anyway, felt like being nice, so quickly modded my custom splitter inline with the ops request.

Just copy/paste this into a text file called "gearbox_layout_Range_12_2.sii" and drop it in your profile folder. It will appear as "Range 12+2 Speeds" in the H shifter layouts then.

SiiNunit { direct_gearbox_config : _nameless.gearbox.layout { name: "Range 12+2 @@Speeds@@" clutch_mode: analog selector_mode: range gears: 17 gears[0]: _nameless.gear0 gears[1]: _nameless.gear1 gears[2]: _nameless.gear2 gears[3]: _nameless.gear3 gears[4]: _nameless.gear4 gears[5]: _nameless.gear5 gears[6]: _nameless.gear6 gears[7]: _nameless.gear7 gears[8]: _nameless.gear8 gears[9]: _nameless.gear9 gears[10]: _nameless.gear10 gears[11]: _nameless.gear11 gears[12]: _nameless.gear12 gears[13]: _nameless.gear13 gears[14]: _nameless.gear14 gears[15]: _nameless.gear15 gears[16]: _nameless.gear16 } direct_gearbox_gear : _nameless.gear0 { gear_impulse_index: 0 selector_1: -1 selector_2: -1 gear: 0 name: N } direct_gearbox_gear : _nameless.gear1 { gear_impulse_index: 2 selector_1: 0 selector_2: 0 gear: 3 name: 1 } direct_gearbox_gear : _nameless.gear2 { gear_impulse_index: 2 selector_1: 1 selector_2: -1 gear: 9 name: 7 } direct_gearbox_gear : _nameless.gear3 { gear_impulse_index: 3 selector_1: 0 selector_2: 0 gear: 4 name: 2 } direct_gearbox_gear : _nameless.gear4 { gear_impulse_index: 3 selector_1: 1 selector_2: -1 gear: 10 name: 8 } direct_gearbox_gear : _nameless.gear5 { gear_impulse_index: 4 selector_1: 0 selector_2: -1 gear: 5 name: 3 } direct_gearbox_gear : _nameless.gear6 { gear_impulse_index: 4 selector_1: 1 selector_2: -1 gear: 11 name: 9 } direct_gearbox_gear : _nameless.gear7 { gear_impulse_index: 5 selector_1: 0 selector_2: -1 gear: 6 name: 4 } direct_gearbox_gear : _nameless.gear8 { gear_impulse_index: 5 selector_1: 1 selector_2: -1 gear: 12 name: 10 } direct_gearbox_gear : _nameless.gear9 { gear_impulse_index: 6 selector_1: 0 selector_2: -1 gear: 7 name: 5 } direct_gearbox_gear : _nameless.gear10 { gear_impulse_index: 6 selector_1: 1 selector_2: -1 gear: 13 name: 11 } direct_gearbox_gear : _nameless.gear11 { gear_impulse_index: 7 selector_1: 0 selector_2: -1 gear: 8 name: 6 } direct_gearbox_gear : _nameless.gear12 { gear_impulse_index: 7 selector_1: 1 selector_2: -1 gear: 14 name: 12 } direct_gearbox_gear : _nameless.gear13 { gear_impulse_index: 1 selector_1: 0 selector_2: -1 gear: -1 name: R1 } direct_gearbox_gear : _nameless.gear14 { gear_impulse_index: 1 selector_1: 1 selector_2: -1 gear: -2 name: R2 } direct_gearbox_gear : _nameless.gear15 { gear_impulse_index: 2 selector_1: 0 selector_2: 1 gear: 1 name: C1 } direct_gearbox_gear : _nameless.gear16 { gear_impulse_index: 3 selector_1: 0 selector_2: 1 gear: 2 name: C2 } }
C1 and C2 replace gears 1 and 2 when switch 2 is toggled, so if switch 1 is on then gears 7-12 are available regardless of the status of switch 2. The reverse gears don't care about the status of switch 2 either.
Note how most of the gears have a "name" two lower than the gear number itself, due to the two crawler gears.

If you want it that gears 3-6 become inaccessible when switch 2 is toggled, change "selector_2: -1" to "selector_2: 0" for the gears named 3-6.
In my game I have presets for Volvo and Scania 12 speed and 12+2 and ZF boxes, 12 and 16, none for the others because they use same layouts as any of those and even use ZF boxes most of them I believe. If you dont see presets then you got an old profile and it has somehow now showed up for you and might need to do as I said. ATS has presets too for EF10, 13 and 18 speed. :) Making a new profile and copy those files over to the old should work too. No need to make a custom setup I'm sure. I've started on totally new profiles for both ATS and ETS2 just recently because I formated my PC and did not bother backing up, wanted to start over anyway. I tend to do that alot... ;)
c1 and c2 are the so called "crawler" aka gears for really really slow movement.. not at all for heavy towing.
If you're wanting to use an actual scania 12+2 shift pattern I made a tutorial video on how it goes. Once you get used to an actual shift pattern you'll find it's actually easier then use range or range + splitter layouts. Anyway, below is my tutorial video if you want to check it out.

Whats wrong with the presets? ....
Hi guys, thanks for supporting me.

@Mr.Nice - will try your setup file

@Negro Y Azul - great video, definitely I will try to use your srtup, because really seems to be easier. I don!t have the splitter for my G29, so need to use different buttons, but it really looks great.

One more question, in my current profile I have assigned for Reverse the joystick button 18, but you have N/A. How can I set N/A ?

My current setup looks like:

RL.....N......2L
------------------
C1.....1L.....3L

RH.....N......2H
-------------------
C2.....1H.....3H

RL.....N.....5L
------------------
N.....4L......6L

RH.....N......5H
-------------------
N.......4H.....6H

May be, can you tell me little bit more about the crawler speeds, please ? I!m asking because of the heavy cargo loads 57t and more. Several times I stayd stucked in a hill not able to move on high way, but also in gravel road. How to correctly climb to steep slopes ?
If you get stuck on a slope, lock the differential (V by default). Combine with your lowest gear (C1). If you have problems with the truck rolling backwards, hold it still with the parking brake, balance the clutch and throttle (full throttle then release the clutch enough to drop rpm to a little under 1500 tends to work well), then release the parking brake.

Oh if you're doing ASCII art to show shifter patterns or similar, use the

tags.
@Negro Y Azul: Looks like good choice for my G29 shifter: https://www.google.cz/imgres?

Also the scheme seems to be correct.

That's what I was doing but without the Crawler speeds, so I hope it will work better now:steamhappy:

Yep, pretty much just how Mr. Nice said is how I do it as well. There's a couple times I've had to save and reload the game so traffic despawns so I can back a ways back down a hill to get a good running start as well.

One more question to this. Why you set N/A for the REVERSE in the setup ?

Do you think this one could work well with your setup ?

Well the reverse shift position isn't used by the Scania 12+2 layout, so it doesn't matter if it's set or not. Indeed, Shift position 3 isn't used either so could be cleared for all it matters.
Just to say What pattern I use, splitter based with the gears arranged "car style" and reverse in it's specific push down position. So that takes care of the normal 12 forward gears and 2 reverse. Then have a range shift which replaces 1L/1H with C1/C2, and to access the other 2 reverse gears for those boxes with 4 reverse speeds. So that's 4 custom layouts to choose between for combinations of with/without crawler gears and extra 2 reverses, without having to get used to different patterns for different trucks/boxes. The without crawler or extra reverse gears version is identical to what you get if you just select "splitter" for such a box, but is aestheticlly nicer for naming the gears 1L, 1H etc.
(Fast split turned on of course).
Diagramatically:
C 1 3 5 |-|-|-¬ 2 4 6 R R+

I use range splitter and have not used the +2 much because I rarely do the heavy jobs, not a fan of those trailers, not a fan of the new dubbles in ETS2 or ATS either, especially ATS. My fav gearbox is one of the Eaton boxes, or well, all of them, the Europeans are so weird with one position not used. In ATS I've lately become a fan of the 10 speed Eaton for some reason. Guess the novelty of lots of gears has worn off abit... if I had a proper shifter knob it would be another story, but since I have to have buttons bound to the wheel to split and all that it can get annoying, altho, I'm pretty used to it, so no huge deal really. If I had head tracker I would not care because then I'd never have to use the mouse to look around.

But I also dont like to use manual gearboxes in any of the standard SCS trucks because they are all really automatics, if you gonna be picky, and for some stupid reason, I am... all the boxes in the game are auto's with slightly different ratios to a proper manual. Ofc, technically they are the same more or less, down below but you know what I mean. Automated manual gearboxes.... would be cool if we got Volvo's DCT box too at some point! :)
