Renault T range transmission
A question for real drivers, or at least for those who knows for sure - is any of those transmissions manual, or all of them are automated? I'm asking because I'm using H shifter and I want to drive as real as posible :) Cheers.

all of your Euro brands over 530hp are automated now. not just the Renaults.
But in saying that use your H-Shift, its your game.

In game doesn't matter, you can drive with or without stick any transmission, but if you want rl realistic you should sell your stick... :lunar2019laughingpig:

I know that... But for example.. There's manual ZFs' transmissions for MAN. And also, you have automated trans. Anyway, thank you so much. From now on, I will playing only on auto trans on T-range

EDIT And of corse I don't wanna sell it because I'm playing ATS too, and America still preserves "real old values" :D

I asked a guy who owns a transport company about transmissions because he buys new trucks from time to time. He told me that the standard nowadays is automatic transmission but you can choose a stick shift as an option if you would like to.

You can ask friend cousin girlfriends mother or check facts yourself ;)

In Finland Volvo FH or FM don't have manual option anymore and Sisu uses MB engines and automated transmissions, optional is Fuller 18-speed manual. Hybrid Sisu uses only Fuller.

Edit: forgot to tell that I didn't find Renault T specs but seems to only option for transmission is optidriver (=i-shift rebranded)

The vast majority of all trucks are equipped with an automated manual ("automatic") transmission
Manual (stick shift) is an optional feature only some manufacturers still offer for certain configs

It's getting very rare and trucks get more "automated" and "assisted" (not autonomous for sure) anyway

As an example, the company I work for doesn't have a single manual truck
Even our smaller TGM trucks are equipped with a 12 speed MAN/ZF transmission

I heard there were manual transmissions in the previous century.

I asked my uncle once who is truck driver about transmitions because i was courious as well.
He said that sometimes if you want a manual transmission you have to extra pay for them because automatic is in standard in most of truck they buy.

Yeah... to be honest it's a pretty lame. I don't wanna this kind of future where we will not need our brains at all. Everything will gonna be automated :S But, in the other hand I uderstand that automatic helps a lot and makes things easier for drivers. And probably, if I'm a "real truck driver" on a long journies I would appreciate automatic more than manual.

Well. there are full automatic trucks that do not need the driver so in less than more time this may be a standard :P

But we will still have ETS2 where you can use your shifter :D:
For me it makes gameplay more funny so even if most truck nowdays are automatic i still prefer manual here.

Modern Truck transmissions aren't automatic like in a Car
(with a Torque Converter*) anyway, they are 'Hybrid-Automatics'.

Which means the Transmission is actually cut for a short period of time from the Engine and a Clutch is being operated automatically.
Trucks/Buses will actually roll back a bit on a steep Hill if not using a Hill climb holder.

*Excluding most Sports Cars, like Porsches PDK etc.

in German the term "automatisiertes Schaltgetriebe" (roughly translated automated manual gearbox) describes it pretty well ;)

Modern Times are cool!
But not in a Truck Sim. Well, to me it is.

I even use "uset g_hshifter_synchronized "0"" in config_local.cfg.

This is not like last, but before last century! :spintires_gears:
And hard work and big fun!

Well, at least with a good power steering. :steerme:

Wow, does this game really have real old school unsynchronized transmission option?!? Now I'm seriously thinking again investing shifter...
I drove Sisu M160 series (search for "niittikoppi" Sisu) wtih Rolls Royce 320hp paired 13-speed fuller. Shifting speed was amazing and it was so easy to drive without clutch, if you managed to get engine speed to perfect match to next gear.
Btw, worth for testing: https://forum.scssoft.com/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=257924

Yes, there is since 1.31 I think. Aproaching a road constriction site it can get a bit stressy while donwnshifting.

And please report back if you find a FFB shifter! :steamsalty:

I drove a Land Rover Series 3 from Bombay to Varanasi with a defective clutch release cylinder. After that you do not need a clutch anymore. :summer2019flag:
