Volve and Scania have the engines with highest power. There is a difference but all trucks are manageable.
I recommend you to start the game by doing the quick jobs first. Drive different trucks. Search for one you like most.
Special mention: The newest DAF XG+ is the only truck with cameras instead of mirrors.
My favorite is the newish Volvo.
The mirrors are good without blocking too much of the view to the sides when I go out from side roads.
A read friendly dashboard.
Volvo has the lowest requirements for the player level for upgrades to powerful engines, and with up to 750 hp, Volvo also has the strongest engine in the game.
When you compare models with about the same hp and transmission configuration, Volvo is the cheapest in my eyes.
Other players prefer other brands for reasons they know best.
But as DC-GS suggests: Try them all with quick jobs.
Performance wise,
save edit these into truck of your preference:
Volvo 750Hp Engine.
Man TGX 6 gear gearbox.
This combo will allow u to get up to 180Kmh with 22 tons.
You mean best truck ever?
Drive the truck you want, it doesn't matter.

2. Volvo
3. Everything else
A Volvo.
in real life? A Scania R
1. Volvos, Scania | best engines and good modern XL looks + accessories
2. MB, MAN | 2nd best engines and ok-looks (newActros is special good modern looking) but less accessories. MANs are cheap - interior is cheap and not luxury.
3. DAF, IVECO | Just not as great as the above, but ok good looks + some accessories (I haven't explored much)
4. Renault | weakest engine (if you play with speed limit and haul 40t max, it's not an issue) and I haven't explored much
Sure, it doesn't have the strongest engines, I personally use 460 HP version with 14 gear shifter, that's enough to deliver 25t cargos without any problem (I prefer hauling 20+ t cargos, I've done close to 40t cargos with double-trailers in Skandinavia with Renault T and it was totally doable).
It's not the fastest, but it's about the journey, not racing. It's all down to personal preference, try out different trucks and see which you like the best, some people like the power, some, like me, sacrifice a bit of the power for convenience and looks. Have fun.
