Logitech G29 Problems
Less about the game, more with the wheel itself. People here use them however, so figured I would ask here.

I have had my G29 for 6 months after previously having a G27 for 2 and a half years. Ever since I bought it, the FFB just does not engage no matter what. I have tried Logitech Gaming Software, G Hub, Logitech Wheel SDK, everything I could find online and nothing will work. Yes, I have made sure it is enabled both in game and in software, still nothing.

Well anyway I dont really mind since I enjoy having the wheel free spin anyway, but now the motor seems to be grinding against the wheel. It is not free, and it is not the centering, its just ever so slightly going against the wheel despite the software saying nothing is wrong.

My G27 did this too, however just quickly jolting the wheel or spinning it would loosen it back up. My G29 just keeps on doing it no matter what. Like I said, not like the motor is stuck on like when you first plug it in, but just ever so slightly battling the wheel. This is with ALL FFB settings turned OFF.

Anyone know of a solution? I have already lubricated the wheel previously with actual lubricant (not WD-40) and that did not seem to stop the problem however did solve squeaking. Is it just a cheap wheel? Should I buy a G920 instead seeing as everybody I know with G920 wheels does not have issues whatsoever but I have seen quality complaints on the G29. Or do I go Thrustmaster and buy a T150 and a TH8A?

sounds to me like you need that wheel serviced by someone in the know how to lube up the gears and fix the broken bits inside the box.

The G920 and 29 are the exact same wheel apart from the button layout from what I’ve heard. Does the wheel do the spinning calibration when you first plug it in, there might be a actual fault instead of a software issue.

I am aware however I have seen reviews claiming that the G29 quality is worse then G920, despite being the same with different buttons. Yes it does the spinning calibration when I plug it in, and when I turn off and on the USB port (via splitter, using the ports on the PC does the same thing) and it sounds like its grinding against something even though the motors are what calibrates it. Is it possible theres a third motor of some sort that its going against? Cause the motors themselves actually sound fine, and it only grinds going clockwise in the calibration, but I can feel it in both directions.
Also, if I spin the wheel somewhat quickly, it actually grinds against something as if theres plastic touching the main wheel gear. That is what I hear whenever it calibrates. However it feels like the motors when I manually turn it both directions.

Could be the case. Stopped doing it after just some slow turns side to side for awhile, and cannot hear anything inside that sounds genuinely broken and rattly but who knows. Plus, I don't know anyone who would be able to service it besides Logitech themselves and who knows if they would. Lubing the gears might help, I have only done the motors (they have a lube port if you look online) and that only helped with squeaking which I assume was just dust from sitting for awhile.
So, I will set this discussion as answered, but from all that I have seen online and overall thought about is it could just be something related to the brushed motors and gear drive. I have other friends with G920's and they have the same resistance problem occasionally. I also know people with brushless motor belt driven Thrustmasters and not only are they quieter during use but they are much smoother and very rarely have friction problems, so what I have decided is if I have any more outstanding problems (I have also had many other problems such as FFB not working even when I try to use it by turning it on in game and in software and setting stuff high for testing, and occasionally pedal problems) I will just look into nicer wheels cause the G29 isnt necessarily an amazing wheel.
