Open your steam library -> right click on ETS2 -> properties -> betas
Go to your Steam Library, right click on Euro Truck Simulator 2, select "properties", in the popup window click on "betas", from the drop down list select the version you want to use, it's somewhere at the bottom :-)
Warning: a profile used in 1.42 will not work in 1.41 no matter what, .... unless you still have a 1.41 (auto) save.
Unless they removed the function, which I doubt, when the game detects a new version it automatically makes a backup of your profile and appends the folder with a version number. The unfortunate thing is the number relates to the version you upgrade to, not from...unless that was changed too.
I'm a different player and don't care about profiles much, except this this time i'm staying on 1.41 'till they release an important dlc, playing 1.42 on ATS though, to keep up with the change :-)
As using an old version still hooks up to WOT shall carry on with 1.41 till something meaningful (to me) comes along
BTW still using the old Logitech LGS software as it works so well in my racing games I have disabled game settings so again no need for 1.42.
Doesn't really matter to me TBH. Have played in offline mode before whilst waiting for PM to update. Its only a matter of recording stats anyway and I don't really care to much about achievements. Do them if its on my way but just like hauling heavy stuff in the main.
Options -> Audio. Scroll down to the bottom and you will find some check boxes.
