What are the current system requirements?
Due to ETS2 game updates over the approximately 4½ years I have been playing ETS2, I am increasingly noticing that my PC is starting to have trouble managing the graphics settings I would like to run with. :(
- And yes, I probably cheated myself when I bought the PC 4 years ago, you only get what you pay for, and at that time I had no idea that the game over time would make higher demands on hardware.

I have therefore now started to think about whether it will be worthwhile to upgrade the machine, or whether it will be better worthwhile to buy a new PC?

I have already for a long time considered upgrading with a better graphics card ... Assuming that the motherboard and processor are suitable for it, otherwise this will be a waste of money.

Also, I have tested if the PC can be upgraded to Windows 11 ... It can not, as the processor is not supported by Windows 11, so this might also be a good reason to buy a new PC, rather than upgrading this antiquity?

Is there any ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ information on minimum system requirements and recommended system requirements for ETS2, or do you have to qualified guess? (The requirements stated by Steam are unfortunately very outdated)

2 GB in the video card is enough to mid-low graphics and enjoy the game unless you have a graphics ♥♥♥♥♥♥.

"NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050"

An upgrade to your video card would help. The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 is only 2GB.

I'm using a GTX1660ti 6GB card and ETS2 and ATS run great. Nice and smooth with No stuttering or lagging. Even if you bought a GTX1650 4GB it would be better
Yes,. I already know these things ... except: I do not know if my motherboard and processor will be able to use and utilize one of the 2 graphics cards you recommend?

Well, then I probably have what you call a graphics ♥♥♥♥♥♥? LOL
- and I'm fine with that :) ... well, except that the game sometimes lags a bit because of my slightly too high settings in the graphics settings. :(

Your specs are pretty close to mine though your GTX1050 only has 2GB VRAM while my mobile GTX1050 has 4GB VRAM. Try my settings (I hope I translate them correctly):
Resolution: 1920x1080
Scaling: 100%
SMAA: Medium
SSAO: Deactivated
DOF: Active
Sun rays: Active
Colour correction: Active
Reflection scaling: 100%
Mirror details: Medium
Vegetation details: Medium
Grass density: Low
Shadow quality: Medium
Size of the shadow textures: Low
Weather quality: Medium
Mirror quality: Medium
Mirror resolution: Medium
Mirror distance: High
Texture quality: Medium
Normal mapping: Active
Traffic headlights: Active
Additional lights: Active
Light distance: Medium
Pedestrians: Active

By the hardware side, only changing the graphic card from 2 GB to 4 GB make alone a huge difference and improvement.

First of all, I would like to thank you for suggestions for changes to the graphical settings ...
Especially because these proposals do not involve the cost of new hardware. It is otherwise both tempting and easy to spend a lot of other people's money, especially when I myself am considering replacing the computer or partially upgrading the old hardware. :)

I have now tried out the various suggestions for changing the settings.
But I find it hard to judge if they helped anything on my little problem with rare layers, maybe because I have tested suggestive in old map areas? (Germany, Denmark and Norway)
- It is mostly in Iberia that I notice these layers, in other map areas they are very rare.

So with my current graphics card, it's a question to myself about what I would rather live with: Rare layers and constantly high graphics, or maybe even rarer layers and constantly slightly worse graphics ... (plague or cholera)

So in the end I think it will probably be a new graphics card, and here @Peter suggested a GTX1650 4GB
I have been checking it out a bit, and have found out that it is available in 2 versions:
MSI GeForce GTX 1650 VENTUS XS 4G OC which is factory overclocked, and ASUS DUAL-GTX1650-O4G which is not factory overclocked.

Apart from the overclocking, I can't see any significant difference in the technical specifications of the 2 cards, but I maybe have overlooked something important there?

I'm not a big fan of overclocking, so unless someone can explain a very good reason to choose the MSI card over the ASUS card, then I think the ASUS card will be the best choice for me.

As the game is pretty allergic to overclocking you should go with the non-overclocked version.
