since they got VR Beta, it's really great and the community is top notch. I have bought every DLC not included country paintwork, and tried this way to support SCS for their supreme work.
i decided that it was time for a VR headset upgrade and went for HP Reverb G2, I have no problems playing all my VR sim games (DCS, Asetto series, etc) that I enjoyed on Oculus, but sadly NOT ETS2 and ATS.
I really hope that we can get support for this headset too through -openvr as Vive and other headsets do.
Thank you
PS. For me ETS and ATS starts, then nothing happens and they quit. Nothing in headset.
Thanks in advance, as your reply will help me make up my mind.
The G2 has a lot going for it (powerful, no screen door effect, comfort and the built in audio, which is fantastic because the speakers pack a punch but don't touch your ears. I've had my G2 since November and here are the four problems it has: 1) requires a top shelf PC to take advantage of graphical capabilities 2) the way the wire drapes over the left shoulder 3) the built in WMR controllers are awful and 4) compatibility with Oculus and SteamVR is really, really buggy. This isn't the G2's fault - just a consequence of so many competing VR platforms and no inventive from Valve, HTC, HP etc. to improve those cross-platform communication tools. After all, they're competitors. As an example, the 'WMR for SteamVR' app here on Steam, which is necessary to run Steam games on a WMR headset, is never updated.
Like the user above mentioned, you can set graphics at about 130% render resolution for many SteamVR games using the G2, but honestly, it's diminishing returns, and how it performs depends entirely on the game. For example, my PC runs Microsoft Flight Simulator almost flawlessly on ULTRA settings in 2D, but In order to run at a nice FPS in VR, the VR graphics must be rendered below 100% and graphics settings dialed way, way down. Another example - Half Life Alyx runs great on the G2, but in the game settings, you must set graphics to 'Low' to see 'Ultra' graphics (which are AMAZING), and setting graphics to 'Ultra' will display 'low' graphics. You also have to set your floor height from the WMR floor height tool in order for Half Life Alyx to set the right height.
Back to the topic at hand - when ETS2 VR worked on the G2 (it no longer does), the graphics settings could be dialed up to Ultra and it ran flawlessly. If ATS could fix the 'starts on pause and can't un-pause' issue in VR, it would also be incredible. The Truck Simulator games are beautiful in VR - but if you're committed to running them that way, I highly suggest you don't get a G2 until these issues are acknowledged and fixed. I doubt that will ever happen.
Can now see further ahead to see speed signs and road sign to react to them faster. no judder and everything runs smooth.
Think a lot of the probs r down to ur rig rather than the game settings.
Tinker around with settings till u find the settings that work best with ur HMD and PC.
When i was 100% scaling i had a lot of judder and the HMD kept losing tracking.
pick the resolution closest to what ur HMD has rather than what ur monitor has.
