Report a translation problem
In order to give you any help, you need to do both these actions:
Go to "C:\Users\*your username*\Documents\Euro Truck Simulator 2" after a crash.
Open "game.log.txt" after the crash, (NOT game.crash.txt) in Notepad or other text editor.
Copy it all and then post it to pastebin.com (split in two parts if too big).
Post the link to that page here.
Also, go to the top of ETS2 Steam page and click "help", then click "system information". Wait for the pop-out window to open and display the information, then right click and select the "copy all text to clipboard" option, and then paste it here.
This will let us try to see what the problem is caused by.
I never had any crash on launch ever on ETS2 and ATS. With my curent rig or old one. Must have something to do with your hardware or software setup or whatever. Malfunctioning drivers... I really don't think it's Steam.
Are you by chance trying to run the game on a laptop with an Intel GPU?
I´ll just join the club and say that I never had a similar issue with either game...
Update your graphics drivers and do a clean install or use a programm named Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) from a company called Wagnardsoft.com - Also available from Techspot and guru3d.
In the config.cfg file for the game (Documents > Euro Truck Simulator). Look for these lines: uset r_mode_height "1080" uset r_mode_width "1920"and set them and save them with your preferences.
Still experiencing problems, then post your game.log - you have a problem and there is no way to solve it if you don't provide any data to assist us fix your problem.
Please post your complete game.log file from the crash to http://pastebin.com (copy/paste, split the game.log if it is too big) and post the link to it here please. This way we can find out what the problem is.
You can find your game.log in your documents in the ETS2 folder as a default install on Windows. (If it is not there check OneDrive.) On a Mac the ETS2 folder is in your Library and there in the Application Support. On Linux the ETS2 folder is in the .local and there in the share.
If pastebin is not available in your country please use http://rentry.co and post the link to it here please. The page works like pastebin.
There are other possibilities as to why the game is not starting, but you have to start diagnosing at the simple quick points. I would recommend that you start the game from the Steam library and NOT a desktop shortcut.
This in most cases will not be a hardware issue - you cannot brute force through this with a high end CPU, GPU and lots of RAM. In *some* instances weak graphics hardware and weak CPU hardware can be a strong contributing factor in *some* games not starting.
EDIT, when the game is running press [ALT] and [ENTER] together and you should then enter into what is known as windowed mode - you probably now have overcome the graphics issue in full screen mode.
for me, after checking, it turned out that when starting the game, it has a very bad connection to the internet.
Steam and euro trucks connect to the Internet when starting up, which is used to check for original values. And no use of illegal game numbers.
And when you have a verry bad connection, the game stop.
it can also happen if there is too much open in the background that tries to connect to the internet.
1) The devs contacted me after the support I mailed them, and we did a series of tests. The problem is that now, the problem doesn't happen anymore, EVEN IN FULLSCREEN, which prevents further investigation.
2) This bug is not a crash, as it doesn't generate a game.crash.txt in the ETS2 Documents folder. Also, it doesn't generate a crash report in Windows logs. In fact, the game works perfectly, the sound is here, and remote connection displays the game, BUT when the bug happens, the display is not appearing on the screen (leaving a black screen with the game running in background).
3) I've only seen this bug happening when launching the game from the desktop Steam icon, I've never seen it happening when launching from the Steam Library. So maybe the icon launches something differently which causes the bug, like an internet key verification or a Steam validation.
4) This issue has only been seen on a laptop with Intel processor and an Nvidia 1050, with Windows 10.
5) My conclusion is that this is a Steam game launcher issue, who somehow doesn't display the game. The exact origin of this issue is unknown. All the files and test results have been sent to SCS by myself. At this point, this issue can be linked to Windows, Steam, the game launcher, an Nvidia driver, the laptop display screen driver, the motherboard, or who-knows-what other thing.
SCS reacted very quickly and investigated, so I'm sorry about my rather stressed title. The thing is, that Iberia is coming soon and I don't want to wait a single second with such a bug when I'll be able to play it.
The problem is solved, if it happens I'll try to launch from Steam Library, or Launch in OpenGL mode, or force Windowed mode with Alt + Enter, or send the files to SCS with the complete config and logs.
