The CPU is extrmely important for VR to avoid your exact problem, since you didn't list it you probably thought it had no effect.

I have an ASUS Prime H370-A motherboard (LGA1151 chipset). When I bought it I think the best option was an i7 (6 core) CPU; it apparently supports 8 core i9s now, but I would likely need to update the BIOS. UPDATE: I just updated the BIOS to the newest version, and no problems so far.
In your opinion, is it worth updating the CPU on an older (LGA1151) motherboard or would it be better to start saving up for a new PC with a newer chipset? (Note that the rest of my system is pretty decent: RTX 3070, 32 GB RAM, SSD drives, SATA drives, etc.)
