They looked at it back in about 2014 (before ownable trailers) and nothing came of it then. However, with the advent of ownable trailers, rigids/BDF's become an easy addition from a technical standpoint.

The ONLY problem is LICENCING and for all we know SCS is trying to get licencing for rigid chassis trucks but is forbidden from saying anything at the moments because of NDA's

Yes, i would love that feature too absolutely. For now we just can use mods, to drive tandems.

Tandem will most likely not happen, too complicated because of the weight issue.

A truck is a tractor and a trailer (or trailers), two weights that are set per definition. If you unhook or hook a trailer, you subtract or add that weight to your tractor but its own weight stays whole.

A tandem is a trailer and a boxtruck, meaning if you take a job or finish a job, you can hook-up a trailer or lose it but you cannot add weight to the boxtruck, or shed it. That's why the BDF mod is flawed, only the trailer has the weight, not your boxtruck. And for the same reason we cannot do multidrop, it's a cargo with one weight, not a sum of weight.

And there is also the issues of the paintjobs, and the issues of multiple recipients [...]

Again, most likely is not the same than defnitely (for the fallacies specialits), and SCS should be praise for their pokerface as they've said more than once, for years, " can't do this or that " and then " it's done "

Well, they separated trailer damage from cargo damage when trailer ownership was introduced and trailers have their own weight independent from the cargoes. We also know (from ATS) that fuel adds weight to the truck, so having another cargo type, perhaps, that applies only to a "tandem" chassis wouldn't be too far a stretch, IMO. Multi-drop functionality might be more of an ask... ;)

What? Sorry but doesn't make any sense. A part about weights. Because they can offer you a weight only for truck and weight for truck and trailer. Look how this similar to ATS and sliding tandems. I don't see any troubles with weight at all.

My weight issue stems from the BDF mod years ago, when cargoes weren't a separate entity from the trailer. Your BDF truck had one behaviour if you were pulling a trailer and a completely other one when not, as if your 22 tons cargo was solely in the trailer, not split into 15 tons + 7 tons. A standard truck (10tons + 30tons) do not change so drastically once you removed the trailer, ATS or ETS2. Maybe this has changed completely.

With ownable trailers the cargo weight is added when you load it and then subtracted again at delivery. The same should be possible to do with the tractor I'd assume. I don't know if this is true though, I'm just guessing.

that would be a consistent further development. I would pay for it. let's say a DLC with 2 or 3 tandem for 10 euros. please take my money please ... :steamhappy:

I'm using the Ekeri mods by Kast and they add only cargo to the trailer. So you get only contracts up to 10 or 11 tons, because your trailer can't take more. The truck is always fully loaded, even without a contract. If you want to haul 22 tons you have to go back to a semi.

I hope they add rigid/box trucks to the game one day, because in real life Europe is full of them and an "Euro" Truck Simulator doesn't make sense without them.
