Bought first truck but using it makes far less money?
I did the quick jobs until I grinded enough cash to buy a sheep truck (one for ~97k) and then was immediately doing the freight missions with own equipment since game said I earn more money that way. Immediately noticed I am no longer teleported to job, so now I have to drive a big distance to even start or only take local jobs that on average pay rather poorly. Then also sleep doesn't rest between jobs unlike quick jobs. And I have to pay for gas, detours, damages, etc. I saw that the same jobs pay ~35% more on freight, but since you can "teleport" on quick jobs and don't have any of the mentioned costs, on average I make about 30-50% LESS when using my own truck/freight compared to quick jobs. For example right now I am in Hamburg and everything close by pays 22-26€/km, and the high paying jobs (40+€/km) are way too far away. Quickjob I can easily start 34€+ now without carrying any costs, so that is pure profit. What am I missing here, is the balance off or why does it feel like using my own truck is a waste compared to quickjobs?

That being said - since my own truck is now permanently idle in it's garage - can I somehow unassign myself from the garage/truck so I can hire a driver who will use the truck/garage while I do quick jobs? It always tells me to upgrade garage despite me never using garage nor truck. I wanna assign truck to driver and do quickjobs.

You have to be assigned to a garage slot. So in order to hire any employee and give them a truck, they need their own slot. The default garage is only 1 slot, so you must spend 180k Euro to upgrade it to a small garage first. Then for the truck, just assign it to that extra new slot with a snazzy new employee in it.

As for earning less money, yeah kinda. You have all these new expenses. But having your own truck is nice. You don't have to keep adjusting your view/mirrors. You can customise it the way you want. Give yourself more engine power. Stuff like that.

sure, I guess once you have cash for a nice truck and nice upgrades then it makes sense to eat the loss for comfort. But I am at beginning of game with a hunk of trash that was the cheapest, so the quickjob trucks are actually 10x more comfortable to drive too :D so that's not a positive for me right now. I guess I will just accept that the early balance is out of whack and continue quickjob grins, kinda shame but oh well.

With 2.5+ billion Euro in my bank account (legit, not modded money), which is not counting all my assets, hundreds of trucks and trailers for my drivers, I wouldn't say that this is an issue.

Not necessarily "out of wack", some (me) never drive quick jobs as I like to have my own regular truck. Just depends on how you want to role play the game. You might want to just sell the truck at a small loss and carry on with Quick Jobs :cozybethesda:

Personally, I usually always prefer to take a job in the area where I am .. Even if it does not provide as good pay as jobs that are far away from my position.
- After all, low profits are better than losses by driving far to the next job without carrying a load.

When you get multiple garages, you can teleport between them by switching headquarters.

But you can actually teleport right now, it just requires you to use console commands which you can access by making a few changes to your config file:

You need to click city where you are then you see nearby jobs and earn millions compared to quick jobs

Also you need to upgrade your skills with xp points to earn the mega bucks.

When going for jobs always click on the city ur truck is in. It cuts down on traveling to other cites and the job might be gone when u get there.
As u get more skills in long distance and other skills the money u earn from jobs will go up.
