Speed limits glitch?
I was driving around Romania and I noticed that in a lot of the built-up areas, the game does not seem to respect the given speed limit. Here are two screenshots to illustrate the problem:

Entering built-up area, speed limit on the sign is 50.

Inside the built-up area, as you can see on the GPS I'm still allowed to drive 80. There's a speed camera ahead which I passed at 80 without penalty. The AI was also driving 80.

Unless I'm missing something about local traffic law, this can't be right. In a few other built-up areas the speed limit was correctly handled but in many it wasn't. Anyone else noticed this?

I noticed it too.
I don't know about other places, but it's a problem in most Romanian towns.

There is a few places (3 just outside of Targu Mures alone) which have this issue. Although I have learned where most of these occur, I still come down to 50 once I see the sign.
Did you have these issues before 1.40 also?

You're right, it's a bug.
But SCS rarely reads here on Steam, so you have to report bugs on SCS's own bug report page:

After reading this post a while ago I started noticing that there are other glitchy places where speed limit is bugged. I dont even have Romania DLC. Seems too much of a chore to report bugs in special forums for paid game also breaks immersion to stop and turn on map to capture where that happens. Would happily use specific forums for FLOSS games bug reporting as I do with 0A.D. or similar games..

Yeah the bug report procedure looks too much like rocket science so I'm not gonna bother with it either. I'm sure with time more devoted players will notice this bug and report it to the dev.

Eh... Speed limit signs are kinda... outdated. There's a 70 sign near where I live but still everyone drives 100. Mostly just signs the weren't removed.

To me, it now sounds more like people in your country obviously do not respect the traffic law?

Not really. 70 on a two lane road is just kinda ridiculous. And what do you expect, it's germany.

The fact that a road has two lanes in the same direction certainly does not mean that it is safe to drive 100 km / h there.
Here in Herning (in Denmark) we have a boulevard with 2 lanes in each direction, and there is a speed limit of 60 km / h, and I know that there are also other places in Denmark where there are roads with 2 or more lanes in each direction where the speed limit is well below 100 km / h.

I mean, kinda ridiculous, isn't it? It's as ridiculous as braking for a turn. And there is a reason why they removed the radars on that road. Driving so slow is more dangerous than just driving 100km/h.

Because crashing at 100kph is better than crashing at 70kph? Speed limits are not set with anyone's convenience in mind. LOL

In that case your obviously right. Crashing at 100km/h is worse than crashing at 70km/h. But such low speed limits mostly cause crashes in the first place. There will always be a guy speeding and if he crashes into somebody who drives 70 instead of 100 it gives him less time to react. And let's be honest here, most cars can handle these roads at 100km/h with ease.

I have probably never driven on that irl road, and therefore know nothing about the local conditions there (eg whether there are side roads, traffic lights, poor road conditions, and many other things), so therefore I can not comment on what I would think about the speed limit on that road.

If some insane driver crashes at 100 km / h in the back of another car that "only" drives the maximum allowed 70 km / h, this speeding driver is not qualified to drive a vehicle that can move at a speed higher than max. 5-10 km / h

Yes the cars can ...
But can drivers also handle it properly?

When traffic accidents happen, in the vast majority of cases it is driving errors such as: Too high a speed according to the conditions, inattention, lack of safety distance ... (and these things often combined with alcohol and / or drugs :steamsad: )
Madest_Max Mar 31, 2021 @ 11:58am
Well... That's why these people drive as fast as they do. They keep enough distance and it's no curvy road. It has a few turns, yes. But really now, I drive faster than the speed limit in ETS2 aswell and I'ma just tell you, these speed limits make absolutely no sense.
