For example, Trucky ensure you have always the latest valid mod version for your game version, Steam is not
ndr I'm the Trucky's Creator
thnx man and one question does trucky team working overwolf app and if can make it work fine to W11. Seem something overley dissapear and dont run in W11 good. perhaps problem is some plugin or what
Workshop updates you to the latest version when the author uploads that latest version and Truckymods can only update you to the latest version when you get that from the author.
You can't be any better than Workshop when you both rely on the mod author to update the mod, hm? ;)
yes, sure. Follow this tutorial, https://support.overwolf.com/en/support/solutions/articles/9000197893-windows-insider-support-removal , the Override part
Ehm... both need the author to upload his mod, everytime, so the new version availability is the same, if the author uploads on both.
And i didnt say "Trucky is better", Trucky offers a different approach on mod updates ON the client. If you want to stick on 1.40 because you are plenty of mods not aligned to 1.41, Trucky won't update your mods to 1.41 version but will stick aligned to the game version.
Steam doesnt follow this approach, if the author uploads the 1.41 version and you are on 1.40, a for some reason the 1.41 version is not backward compatible, you must remove the mod.
If the mod author publishes the mod correctly to Workshop, the version information will prevent your mod from being updated if you are sticking to a lower game version.
Again, just sounds as though Truckymods is recreating what already exists...
And btw, Maps are not supported from Workshop.
While I agree steam workshop is a safe, easy to use platform for downloading mods, it does have the downside of not supporting map mods. For me one of the most important reasons behind TruckyMods though, is to try and encourage people to download their mods from the original creators, with each mod uploaded being approved by hand, it massively lowers the chance of mods being stolen. Whilst TruckyMods won't be able to stop people re-uploading mods to certain sites, TruckyMods, along with platforms like the steam workshop and the forums can at least discourage users from downloading these re-uploads, but encourages using an original download instead.
While a lot of the mod sites like ets2.lt (as an example), do host mods uploaded by the original author, such a large percentage are stolen it's hard to distinguish which is which. Having been in the modding community for the last 2-3 years now, I have often seen fellow modders upload mods, and in matter of hours seeing them plastered all over re-upload sites, and the sad thing is, a lot of these re-uploads will make money of these mods, and while TruckyMods won't stop this from happening directly, it may help encourage more users simply avoiding these sorts of sites.
Steam Workshop also hosts mods which are mainly from the original creator, (and I strongly encourage you to use before checking sites like ets2.lt for x mod), I have found that there are portions of the community (especially the more 'hard-core' community), who find the steam workshop does not offer a lot of the mods they want, and would prefer to just pick up the first result from google, not worrying about if the mod was original or stolen.
At the end of the day it's completely your choice which site you use, I personally use both, but at the end of the day each platform aims to do a similar thing. TruckyMods was never meant to replace the steam workshop, or even try to be any competition to steam workshop, it was simply meant to be an alternative option, for downloading mods safely, getting map mods, or just being for those who'd rather not use the steam workshop, but at the end of the day; it's completely up to you.
