Unable to resume update

Every time I click the resume button the game starts to update and within a couple of seconds it stops updating. I don't have any issues with my other games, it is only ETS2 that I am having problems with. Can anyone help me?

Make sure you have enough free space on the drive where your ETS2 is installed. You will need more than 6 GB free, maybe even 9 GB depending on how much of the game needs to be re-written to the drive.

Try clearing your Steam download cache Steam - Settings - Downloads - there's a button to clear your cache. Restart Steam after doing this.

I just cleared the download cache and restarted Steam as instructed, unfortunately I still have the same problem. I have other Steam games installed on the same drive and there was no issue with updating these games.
Thanks for your help. I might just have to back up my saves and reinstall the game.

Did you manage to resolve this without reinstalling the game? I've been unable to update to 1.41, keep getting the not enough disk space error despite having 80Gb free, and other games update without issue. I've tried clearing cache, verifying the library and game files etc.

Thanks, I've tried those steps, when verifying the local games files it says that 12 files failed to validate and will be reacquired, which it never actually does, I remember seeing this before. I guess I'll just use ATS until I feel the inclination to reinstall ETS2.

I am having also trouble (again) to download updates (of ETS2). I am tired of cannot playing this game just because I have to run it over the Steam server...
How do I save and can play the game on my Mac WITHOUT being dependable on Steam?

Clear your steam cache and make sure you have space on your drive.

You can lock yourself to a version of the game by choosing one of the betas. But for any new update, you need steam to provide the data.

ADD: I also checked my Privacy and Security Setting in macOS 13.6.9.: under App Management the slider is set to "allow the application (Steam) to update or delete other applications".
And I have 1.5 TB free on my HD
