When to stop for fuel?
Only had a few short quick jobs, amsterdam-groningen and haven't had to stop for fuel so far. But I'm not sure how much distance is left for the ride to make an estimate for when and if I need to stop for fuel. Any pointers on that?

Usually on the quick jobs (driving a supplied truck) you'll start with enough fuel to make the delivery, at least on the short jobs. On the map display (not in the dash but the overlay that can be zoomed in or out using F5 or turned on/off using F3 - I think it's F3) there's a fuel indicator. It will turn red when you're running low but you'll want to plan to stop before that so you don't get caught between stations as they can sometimes be pretty far apart.

If you do run out, there's always the emergency fuel option.
That works.

If i remember correctly quite some trucks have an info panel for remaining range. Usually does its job good enough. The only thing you have to take into the calculation is terrain and GTW.

The warning indicator on the dashboard will get lit too if it reaches that point....

Rule of thumb, treat quarter full as empty, and always fill up as close as possible to end of your driving day.

I believe the i key cycles thru the dashboard menu's, one of those should tell you fuel amount & estimated km said fuel will last for

That is correct "i" is your friend. Other than in ATS fuel stations are quite plentiful in ETS, so you have to try very hard to run out of fuel. There are only few areas where you have to travel a significant amount of time to the next station, so you don't need to be too concerned about it from my experience :- )

On quick jobs I think you are always given enough fuel, and if the truck is almost empty at the end of the job, that is no problem for you.

I've always just fuelled up wherever I take a rest stop. The 11 hours you have (maximum) between rests is never enough time to empty a tank on the Scania S truck I'm using so it works out nicely. If I'm resting at a place without anywhere to refuel, I refuel at the next station I pass.

You can be a bit tactical about it if you want, saving refuels for countries where prices are cheaper if a job is taking you through them (Poland and especially Russia are quite cheap), but you'd have to be making some really weird financial decisions to be in a dire enough situation where fuel prices become a major concern.

Thanks guys, it was mainly about the quick jobs since I don't use my own truck for it I didn't want to waste money on fuel if I didn't have to. I'll keep a better eye on my gauges.

Since no else has mentioned it I will also point out that if you Escape to the in game desktop and hover the mouse over the image of a truck in the top right hand corner then you will get a pop-up with some of your statistics and some of your truck's and the latter include the distance left in the tank which you can compare with the World Map which will show you how far you have left to drive and can also be used to determine how far it is to the fuel stations by setting waypoints.

Oh that one seems really useful, does it adjust when you have load though?

@ ColaBB if you are only doing quick jobs any fuel you require to top up what is already in the tank is paid for by the employer the same as any road tolls that may be incurred so you are never out of pocket !
