Laptop gets so hot and loud when playing ETS2?
Laptop very loud and hot whilst playing ETS2?
Please excuse me for posting this - I see these posts all too often. But I'm very confused. I am running ETS2, a game which I was told isn't hugely demanding, on a 2020 Huawei Matebook D Intel Core i5 (I'll post specs below). I am playing at 25% Scaling and Lowest Graphics settings, getting a low FPS too, yet my laptop is wheezing like a Boeing 747. Even now, I just went to check my graphic settings, and the fans have already started because I loaded up the game. Any ideas why it struggles so much? I used to play Flightgear Flight Simulator on my old 2015 MacBook Air, a more demanding game, on higher settings and with a higher FPS and the MacBook coped with that better. I purchased the laptop under 2 weeks ago so the fan and everything is clean, and ETS2 is the only game I play on this laptop. The rest of the time I just use it for surfing the web and schoolwork. Please, any help is appreciated! Thank you so much for reading ;)

By the way, My Laptop doesn't leave my desk, so when I'm playing ETS2 it is on a flat surface, and I don't run any other applications in the background. Thanks everyone.

My Laptop stats here:
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-10210U CPU
8GB RAM
Windows 10
103GB Free Space
Intel(R) UHD Graphics

Integrated graphic chips aren't suited for gaming. This is your bottleneck. If it's possible, you might be able to get better results when you add a dedicated graphic card.

Not really an option with a laptop. External videocards are possible, but very pricey for what you get in return.

Dont try to game on a Web Browser . Youre just going to kill it if you keep it running hot for super long periods too . if need be get a laptop cooling dock . Upgrade your Thermal paste or replace it on your cpu / gpu .

Like posted before, playing on a web-browser is not to recommend, but if you don't have anything else I'll guess you can connect a separate monitor to the HDMI and use the NVIDIA® GeForce® MX250 card instead of the integrated Intel UHD, it might give you a tad more FPS. But the heat will be the same thou.

Neverending story.

Laptops -> very tight case -> not enough room for proper coolers -> very poor cooling solutions -> very loud as soon as it has something to do = don't game on a laptop <shrugs>

And this will be worse with more powerful hardware in this tiny little case (more power -> more heat, but same poor cooling). Even if you buy a "gaming laptop", it's still just a laptop.

I've played on a laptop ever since ETS2 came out and have not had any real problems.
If the laptop is getting hot, mine will go to the desktop to protect from further harm.
That's when I blow the dust out of the vents and that does the trick.

Try and cap your FPS, might be running unlimited and throttling your system.
And as suggested, a cooling pad.

All the cooling decks and lowering the in-game settings aren't gonna turn a lump of lead into a gold bar, my man.

Intel(R) UHD Graphics

It's just not suitable for this game.

Intel graphics wont play games unless their simple browser games that dont use much graphics.

If u want to play games get a desktop. At least they can be upgraded by putting in better GPU when u want too but not if its a mac as those cant be upgraded as much as windows can as macs tend to soldier in parts so u cant take them out to upgrade them.

Learn how to build ur own desktop. its a lot cheaper than buying a prebuilt 1 from the shop and better quality. plenty of vids on you tube to show u how. very easy to do.

I built my own PC with a ryzen 9 3900X. RTX2080 TI and 32GB RAM for less than £2000.
Just use a website to make sure u get compatbale parts. plenty of sittes around hat u can look uo. just decide what CPU u want then get a motherboard with the right socket type. and RAM to match it. or u will cause a bottleneck if 1 or more parts is not fuly compatable. once u have the parts they just slot in. not a lot can go wrong while fitting them as most parts only fit in 1 way and the wires r easy to do as well.

Thanks for all the answers guys - Hope to buy a gaming PC at some point in the future so I can enjoy ETS2 without the fear of my laptop exploding. I'm going to keep using it but only playing for short periods of time. I'll also invest in a cooling pad.

Sorry, but what do you mean by gaming on a Web Browser? I'm using ETS2 on steam, does web browser refer to the laptop? Sorry, I am not very expert in these terms XD

It means that your Laptop is not at all made to be used for playing games other than Flash games from the old days of the internet. And that is why you have problems. You are using your Laptop for something that it isn't made for. Your Laptop is good for surfing on the internet and watching videos. But not for gaming.

Until you get proper gaming hardware (maybe ask about it before getting it so that you don't waste money on hardware that is outdated) you should set the grafic settings to the absolute minimum possible in order to play.

Thanks for the help Wolfgang! I'll keep that in mind

Heat ... that must be about the biggest enemy I know ... it's definitely something I don't tolerate.

i mean you have to have a good gaming laptop its normal that office laptops start overheating and being loud while gaming.
